Looks better? Better than what ? That looks fucking awful.
It's miles better than our team right now.

Although I'd have Milner/ Masher and Gerrard in the middle, and Young on the left.

The only ones I'd take there would be Milner and Warnock as a stopgap. Young and Downing are so fucking overrated it's unbelievable. It may be better than some of the shite we have now but it's fucking awful all the same.

MON has spent £88m net in 4 years and what has he got for that apart from Young (he's overrated) and Milner?

to be fair they are on the verge of finishing above us.

If it is O'Neill he's building a long term project and legacy of course while signing all the best British talent and doing a wonderful job (pass the sick bag).

O'Neill has signed some of the best British talent. Young and Milner would walk into our team. Mind you, so would Warnock.

What point are you trying to make?
Downing would be better than any of our LWs as well.

He has made some cracking signings, apart from Emile LOL

Downing: 2 goals in 24 games for Villa.

Yep £88m to finish 6th. Lofty ambitions indeed.

I bet Rafa would have won us the league with £88m.

Doubt it.

Milner, Young, Dunne, Warnock, I'dbonkawhore, Carew and Cuellar would all improve our squad. Three of them would get into our team ahead of Insua, Lucas and any of our 'wide' players.
We'd end up with useless cunts like Heskey and Petrov
Id rather bring Petrov and Heskey on than El Zhar and Degen.
Let's face it our 'squad' is so weak ANY starter from ANY premier league team would better it.
he wouldnt have got a permit here because of our rules and he isnt worth that kind of fee
How did Insua get in then ?

And what about Palletta ?

I know Leto used a fake passport, but the other two presumably needed work permits ?

He's got a Spanish passport i think, and LUcas has an Italian one.

35M does sound ridiculous for a CB, but when you consider that Real and Barca have regularly been paying 20M+ for defenders (e.g. Pepe who was signed from Porto for €30 million) in recent years *and* the interest is attributed to City, it doesn't sound quite as absurd.

The rate Man City are spending - they'll be forking out £150 million for around 4 players. David Luiz would be a good buy for them from what I've seen.

If money is no object, why not. Now is the perfect time to do it given the financial situation at a lot of top clubs in Europe. I disagree with whoever said their approach thus far has not worked - they could still finish fourth, which means real progress and even if they don't, you have to take a look at their squad and say it's not long before they'll be challenging for the title. They're quite happy to stock up on players knowing that they can afford to discard them without any real concerns as to the financial ramifications.

There has to be ramifications somewhere down the line surely. If the UAE lot are happy to throw their money away though it's going to be hard for anyone to compete with. You can't blame City fans for being happy about it - in all fairness - they've given their pound of flesh for their team

the sooner uefa link spending to turnover the better.
But surely there'll be loopholes in there. For instance, what would stop anyone simply pumping in £100m for whatever 'service' they can think of ? Plus doesn't that make it unfair as the bigger clubs will continue to benefit.
Yeah, then the sheik will have to have someone buy a million shirts to increase their turnover so they can buy who they like.
