This requires no thought whatsoever: Liverpool

I want this England team to fail.

Ha!

I would rephrase the post as Liverpool winning number 19 vs You country winning the world cup of its favorite sport.

India winning the cricket world cup > LFC winning the league

Nobody in my family watch football. If India wins the world cup they will party for a month.

A few years back (2003), I would have definitely agreed with this. But right now, Liverpool winning the league might just shade it. I've lost most of the enthusiasm I had for Indian cricket team.

If it was just me, maybe I would be in your boat. But thinking about the joy which my family members and mates will get, I will have to go for India winning the world cup.
Also Sachin makes a huge difference. A significant proportion of my family watch Indian cricket due to him. Once he retires, it may be different.

I'd like to hear Oncy's views on this.

Anyway, I'm in the Spider camp. I'd take Liverpool beating West Brom than England winning the World Cup. I think I would jumped off a tower if England would have done well in the summer.

I'm not really anti-England in the many Scouse or Irish people are. But the thought of John Gypo Terry passing a trophy to Jar Jar Merced Ferdinand is enough to taste bile.

When massive changes are made then England will, once more, have my support.

You don't count .. you're Irish so that's a given !

If it was the WC then it would be a tough one (and the longer we go without winning the PL the tougher it gets) however as far as the EC is concerned it's no competition. Liverpool by a KO.

I wanted England to do well in South Africa because Stevie would have been forever etched in memory as the guy who lifted the World Cup.

And Brave John Terry would have died a bitter, bitter cunt.

LFC every time.

The national team of England is shit, and run by shit people from the managers to the coaching staff to the shit people who run the shit FA.

Plus its a shit thread.

I'm from Singapore, so my answer is quite a no-brainer.

Yeah - imagine the celebrations if Singapore won Euro 2012.

Years ago this would've been a tougher decision.

I used to care about England, but these days they just don't even come up on my radar. Capello has gone back on his word and he's been a big disappointment as a manager. Most of the players in that side I can't stand and wish no success for.

Liverpool all the way.
[/quote]Yup, this is almost totally my view.
When i was a kid Liverpool won everything and i took that for granted, that it would always be that way. Footballers then achieved the pinnacle of thier careers when they played for England, and the whole nation wanted England to win. Back in 82, 86, 90 and even 96 and 98. But gradually the importance of champions league added the paucity of our major titles wins has increased the interest in domestic football and reduced that of International.

I would now (probably for the first time ever) pick Liverpool winning the league over England winning. I dont like the FA i dont like the manager or most of the players and the lack of touch the 'England Show' has with the common man is a joke.
Players retiring from international football at 25, constant meaningless friendlies, rotating captains, wags etc etc its just a big ugly show.

Im born English and i will always want to win, and when we get to tournaments i will really want to win and really be into it. But i chose Liverpool.
That means more.

Liverpool > England.

However, UNLIKE Man U., Dublin are mostly hated by small-minded idiots who cannot actually justify their hatred, and thus invent reasons like "Well, you're so cocky about winning it every year" (when we're not and we haven't won in f$%!ing donkies), or "Well, you lot hate all culchies" (when we don't, but our reacting to defend our team/city/county with the same passion that all Irishmen would their team/city/county sees us branded as arrogant), and other such nonsense.

Many such Dub-haters are so obsessed with us that it's more important to them that we lose than their own county win. How pathetic is that?

I think the hatred is more that people want other counties to win simply because Dublin has by far the biggest population. Plus they always take over hill 16!
