I'm sure we've done this before, but it's an intriguing discussion worth revisiting...

If you could only choose one, would you prefer to see Liverpool win the League in 2012 or your Country (Ireland/England/Whomever) win the European Championships in 2012?

Fucking hell. Kenny and Gerrard's Liverpool or Crapello and John Fucking Terry's England?

Tough one.

Northern Ireland need it more than Liverpool, yet, despite that I would always support Liverpool. Despite being an NI regular for many year I have no hesitation in picking my club over my country.

Its such a hard choice, but i'd have to go with NI winning something. It would literally be a once in a lifetime thing, whereas I have no doubt that Liverpool will get back to winning ways sooner or later.

Reall, Ryan...you shnould have at least given the alternative choice a fighting chance 8)

Agreed.

How about Liverpool to win the league or Singapore/Malaysia to qualify for the World Cup?

I'll go for Liverpool.

This requires no thought whatsoever: Liverpool

I want this England team to fail.

Indeed, it's hard to give a shit at the best of times but with the cunts we've had in the setup for the last few years it is nigh on impossible.

What a stunningly shit thread.

Someone's already chosen their country in the half dozen odd replies we've got.

That, and erm stick it up your arse.

I bet most people who vote for their country, aren't English..

Anyway, Liverpool all the way.

I don't so much want them to fail, but I've little desire to see Capello and cunts like Terry write their names in history. That said, if there's a tournament then I'll always support us, for our lads alone.

Years ago this would've been a tougher decision.

I used to care about England, but these days they just don't even come up on my radar. Capello has gone back on his word and he's been a big disappointment as a manager. Most of the players in that side I can't stand and wish no success for.

Liverpool all the way.

Quite.

I couldn't choose. Being Irish I know that any success would be a once-in-a-lifetime thing and I know how amazing the ride would be AND being an old bastard I've seen LFC win the league at least 9 times.

Having said all that my thirst for our 19th title is all-consuming and when we win it it will mean more than any of the others...............I'm choosing the double, Ireland Euro Champions 2012 and LFC League Champions!

Like Pesam, I want it all. It would be amazing, and unifying for Norn Iron to achieve something like that, I think it would have incredibly positive repercussions for our wee country. That said, I'm a Liverpool fan first and foremost and these lean years have been sooooo sapping. With Norn Iron, getting into the finals and performing creditably would be huge in itself, so I might take that and Liverpool becoming champs again.

crappello as manager
terry as captain

I don't even 'LIKE' england, much less want them to win something at liverpool's expense. fuck england.

Liverpool is all that matters.

I used to follow England more than now and used to want to see Liverpool players play for England but have lost interest over the years.

Now i rarely ever watch England, even in the tournaments, and I hope that Liverpool players aren't involved!

its a bit of a shame really in some ways.

The last time I enjoyed watching England was probably under El Tel in Euro 96, probably because we were hosting but mainly because, despite them being out on the piss, we played some great football and genuinely didn't look like a bunch of in-fighting, spiritless, egotistical gobshites.

it's the same old fucking shite everytime, every fucking EVERYTIME!!
score an early goal, cling on for dear life, oppersition score (usual with some england player fucking up). draw

and then when we get 'heroically' booted out there always has to be 'SOME' controversy.

all the while playing some truly turgid shite.

england win the world cup or liverpool win the LEAGUE?! ha ha ha
I think even if the choice were england winning the world cup or liverpool getting the next THREE POINTS it wouldn't be a difficult decision for me.

+ 1

I don't hate the national team, in fact I was massively gutted when we went out of the WC, I spent a lot of money shopping the next day to get over it. But it's still a no brainer, Liverpool all the way.

I would love the national team to do well but I've always felt an even greater sense of pride at the club's successes.

Liverpool.

But then again, I'm from the IOM, so it's not a difficult decision. I'm very confident though that if I was English I will still choose Liverpool every time.

International football is a bit of fun that comes around every now and then, but club footie is the real stuff!
