David Villa ?

So in one thread we say we don't have enough quality players and can't attract them but when one is rumoured to join us, it's 'no chance' ???

It won't happen because the guy has made it crystal-clear on more than one occasion that he doesn't want to play in this country, but I'd take him in a split second if he changed his mind. I suspect that stuff about Torres needing to leave was Barca-inspired (he joined them not long afterwards).

His position has possibly changed at Barca, and if he doesnt feel there is an other Spanish club he can join then he might reconsider that..

Pepe, have a word!

Do you think this is going to happen?

Apart from being the opening day of the transfer window, what's this about then (agaian) ?

I might be wrong but I believe Mark is calling the press conference as happening on that date as a nod to when he called the last press conference back in the day.

David Villa, goalscoring phenome of Barcelona and Spain would have more chance of playing for us right now had he been playing for Southampton, Sunderland, Birmingham or Middlesboro anytime over the last 5 years and contrived to put in one good performance against us.

Zlatan's book (yes, another footy autobiography) mentioned that anyone who has a fallout with Messi is finished at Barca. The reports of Messi's fall out with Villa are there - and if it's true, we'll see if Zlatan's right or not.

Villa (on loan) + Suarez would be nice.

Balague was saying this on the radio earlier today. He indicated there was some truth in rumours which have been going around about Villa and Messi not seeing eye to eye, said that in that situation there was only ever going to be one winner, and added that the biggest Premier League clubs (of which we were the first he mentioned, because he said there had been whispers about our interest in Spain as well) stood a chance of getting Villa "if they go about it in the right way", whatever that may mean.

Turns 30 on 9th of December.

Don't care. He's boss.

As if we'd turn him down if he was willing to come. Be like Pee Wee Herman turning down an offer from Iron Mike to help out in a bar-room brawl.

I wasn't suggesting for a second that the club wouldn't want him (if that's what you meant), but there was someone earlier in this thread who wasn't keen, due to age/cost blah blah.

[/quote]that would probably be flattering Villa by offering him a huge contract and Barcelona an enormous transfer fee.

Pep denied the fall out, as you'd expect him to, I guess. isn't he meant to be Reina's best mate? Is it really inconceivable to think at 30, once he's won everything: which he has, he'd want to experience the premiership and would consider Liverpool?

is it conceivable that we'll buy a world class striker and bench carroll after forking out 35 mill on him?

United, Chelsea and City have all done it

Is Pepe really his bezzie mate ?

Could count for something......*not convinced*

Did anyone see Pepe on Football Focus ?

He said his wife told him to stay at Liverpool.
