Liverpool have snapped up Luton Town's Under-15 prospect Dave Moli for an undisclosed fee after he impressed Kenny Dalglish.

Moli trained with Liverpool's Academy last month under the watchful eye of Reds legend Dalglish and he showed enough to earn a move to Anfield.

He had attracted interest from several Premier League sides, with Luton making an official complaint to the Football Association regarding an illegal approach from an unnamed club.

Negotiations with Liverpool went smoothly, with the Blue Square Premier club's youth development officer Gregg Broughton conceding it was a difficult decision to sanction the deal.

Broughton told the club's official website: "Although we never like to lose talented footballers from Luton Town, it is also important that if it is right for the football club that we don't stand in the way of a young player's development.

"It is not our usual policy to allow any of our young players to leave Kenilworth Road for another club.

"Nobody wants to see a player with potential such as Dave's leave, but on this occasion we took into consideration a number of factors.

"The first is the value of the player in the short and long term, while the second takes into account the player's natural footballing progression and development.

"All of these aspects were taken into consideration and we felt it right to allow Dave and his family to talk to Liverpool.

"We're delighted to be able to accept a bid on behalf of such a big club, but stress that the club's policy of allowing young players to leave is a strict one."

Wasn't Daglish impressed by Fowler when he was a wee lad too? Hopefully a player of similar 'caliber'

I think *everyone* was impressed by Fowler, weren't they? Might have been the 147 goals per season he kept scoring.

ANOTHER starlet? Fantastic.
It'll be good to see him play when he re-signs for Luton in a few years after doing fuck all for us.

Presumably he also thought Nicky Tanner was a promising youngster at one point

Probably. All I'm saying is that just because a kid looks good is no guarantee they'll make it.

I hear that Arsen made an illegal approach to him.

Come on, tell us more Macca 😉

Exactly. Take the Olsen twins for example; ride-able when they were 6, yet now I wouldn't touch them with yours.

Nearly forgot about him under today's report on the U18s.

David Moli smashed a hat-trick as Liverpool U18s beat Shrewsbury 4-0 on Saturday.

The England U16 international had another two goals chalked off for offside.

One to watch out for?

ha, was just about to mention him in the thread about our young strikers. the very little i've seen of him - basically the highlights of our 7-0 against preston a couple of weeks ago when he got another hat-trick - suggests he's an absolutely brilliant prospect. fast, great touch, looks pretty clinical, big and strong. could well be the most complete of our youth strikers, although someone on RAWK reckons he wasn't always as focused as he should be in the u16s, which is why he hasn't been as feted as someone like jack dunn or kris peterson.

but definitely one to watch, very much so.
