Darwin Nunez

So basically what will happen now is, we'll win a pen again Fulham, Nunez will take it, Salah will have a new competitor to hate, the keeper will be the first keeper ever to dive the right way against Nunez, resulting in Nunez missing his first penalty ever. Haaland will score 5 goals and the rest will be history. Nunez will be playing for Celta Vigo in 18 months.

That right, Hal?

We're not really going to do this shit again are we?

Benfica signed David Neres as his replacement, wonder if they will sell him for 40 mil to United next summer

Reminds me of jorginho style pens. It sometimes makes them look like a right dick

Ah yes there is a bit of that. Must say I hate the way Jorginho and Bruno take pens. I keep thinking someone's got to save that!

(But they keep scoring so what do I know...)

It's just all soo many photos, and fake smiles and he just looks nervous as heck.
A lot of pressure aside from banging in the goals to be a model, an ambassador, learn a new language, update social media etc etc
He's obv getting paid a bunch bit still

i agree it is a lot of pressure, let’s hope he copes, he will get a lot of support from the team and LFC ..Klopp seems really good at getting them settled in and takes time. I reckon he will adjust ok.

He’s already played well at the highest level. He has Klopp to guide and nurture him. He has the best fans on the planet to support him. He’s gonna be absolutely boss.

Shanks had just arrived at the club when I became a fan, and from then till now I've never seen other individual talent in a Liverpool shirt to equal that of Suarez. There have been other players who ended up having more distinguished Liverpool careers, but that's a different matter altogether.

I'd call him single-minded rather than self-centred TBH. The latter suggests what Suarez did on the pitch - good or bad - was focused on glorifying himself, which I would dispute. To me it was always about the team winning. He occasionally skippered the side, and regularly did so at Ajax before coming to us. I don't see managers giving the armband to selfish players who are in it for themselves alone.

He was certainly one of the most unselfish players in our team at the time. Worked his bollocks off and created some glorious chances for his teammates. If only we had him in a different era…

Anyone make a song for him to the tune of "die, die, die my darling" by the misfits? Best I'm getting is "score, score score our Darwin"

I am not talented

I’m thinking something to the tune of Blondie’s ‘Call me’ substituting Darwin! for ‘Call me’ (Darwin…he can score at any time etc)

Dont know if this has been posted however a decent analysis of Darwin from a Benfica supporter

That just magnifies all the concerns I have about him.

Going off that analysis and other comments he seems to be a player that would fit in brilliantly with the team we were 3-4 seasons ago. We're not quite the swashbuckling, counter-attacking side we used to be anymore.

Hopefully Klopp and co know what they're doing and can work their magic as they have with others.

I'm not convinced the Xg table can be used as a comparison (for the 2 seasons prior to joining LFC) with such a difference between teams & leagues.

Images deleted for now. They are full size but only showing as thumbnails on here.

That's true, but if you consider that we're up against a low block far more than we used to be, having a clinical finisher, who is also an aerial threat, should help us get over the line more easily.

It's harsh to criticise an attack that scored 94 goals last year, but he's also true that we struggled for goals in important moments all last season; the finals, against Spurs when we needed a win, against ten men Chelsea to name a few. We also recorded less wins against the top teams than Burnley, so against better quality defenses our current approach was getting countered.

Providing we're still able to pin teams back then we should be able to score in a greater variety of ways with Nunez in the side, and the Trent, Nunez linkup is a pretty exciting.

My short term concerns are that City will get their new look attack clicking faster, as Haaland is largely considered the more accomplished player to date, but we can always hope his knee implodes in Pre-season. If either Nunez or Haaland is getting regularly injuries it'll be an absolute nightmare for Klopp and Pep to integrate a new approach because there's no alternative to either player.
