Darwin Nunez

I know we've got an almost impossible chance but the one player i'd love to sign and i think would fit our system more than a glove, would be Son.
If he wasn’t such a whiny little cunt I’d agree.

But he is, so he can stay with all the other whiny little cunts at Spurs.

He's a whiny cunt when decisions go against him, but never complains about the manager or his teammates. The perfect Klopp player.

It's written to me like we have a valuation, we won't go over it. If Nunez wants to push a move, we will be waiting, much like the Diaz move.
seems like the right approach, don't want to pay over the odds for a goal-hanger type.

Not only did the Dutchman provide fascinating tactical insight and his ultimate five-a-side team in world football, but he also took on the question: who is the toughest opponent you’ve ever faced?

And while, unfortunately, Van Dijk didn’t settle upon a definitive answer, he did namedrop five opponents that he clearly thinks gave him a harder time than most across his career.

“Aguero was obviously unbelievable,” Van Dijk pondered. “Messi, arguably the best player in the history of football in my opinion. Mbappe is different, quick… Haaland and also Darwin. He’s a bit similar – very direct, quick, tall, strong and it’s quite difficult to play against him.”

Yeah I know - at first I was thinking like maybe 45M, but now that I know united are also interested - anything above 35M is too much.
By all accounts our valuation appears to be around the £50-60m mark.

Benfica and the Portuguese media doing what they always do.. and try and double it.

Obvious bullshit. No way we'll pay that much. We probably have like a 50-60 million valuation for him, and if that gets a deal done, it probably happens. We'll pull out quickly if there's a bidding war with United.

I don’t think it’d come to that. The indications are probably that he’s given the nod to us a while back that he’d love to come to Anfield and Utd are no competition at all in that regard. Once he’s clear with the Benfica hierarchy that he’s firmly wanting to work with Klopp, it’s just a bit of poker playing until the fee is sorted - I’d suggest it’ll be 70m euro or something.

No chance of a serious bidding war with a Utd side that just scraped into the Europa league and are a complete and utter mess.

I can't see Benfica budging on the price especially if the United interest is real.

From a footballing perspective, I have no doubt that Darwin prefers a move to us, but that doesn't mean much unless we can agree a fee with Benfica.

As others have said, United have shown repeatedly that they will throw money at transfers - they're desperate to be relevant again. Benfica know this and will surely use that to their advantage. Also worth knowing that Darwin is represented by Jorge Mendes, who will undoubtedly be trying to get the best possible terms for himself and his client. If United offer Darwin a bigger salary (and a bigger agent fee for Mendes), you can see Mendes pushing him towards United.

I think the only way it happens is if Darwin is adamant that it is Liverpool or nothing for him.

Looks like he is our nr 1 target then but will all come down to price. Lets hope Utd lose interest if Nunez pushes for a move to us.
This wont be like the Tchuameni transfer but Benfica are notoriously good at getting decent fees and have no need to sell. They also paid 20 mill for him and Almeria have a 20% sell on clause.

What do we reckon is our limit? I reckon about 65 mill £. Might be enough to get the deal done.

There's also the question of what United's priorities are. Ten Hag needs to rebuild that whole side, but surely it's CM and CB that he'll prioritise. They seem to want one of Rice or Phillips or De Jong and that young Ajax defender. That itself will cost a lot of money, but I think that's more important to them than getting a new attacker. Relatively speaking, their attacking options are quite decent in Ronaldo, Rashford, Sancho and Bruno.
