1 goal, 1 assist should have had two if Solanke could finish.

I'm starting to get my hopes up.

All depends on whether he can keep himself fit.

But going from his comments this past month, he has matured and it seems he realised where his career was heading and is now trying to make a change for the better.

I want him to do well as much as i want any of the new signings to do well, a fit and sharp Sturridge, with pace or without, is a great addition to any squad.

After three years of almost constant injury I refuse to hold hope for Studge, but he is undoubtedly a very good player,

I know that many people across the football world, his fans at Spurs, fans in the press and on here are very eager to suck Harry Kane’s cock but in my opinion an in form fit Sturridge is the best English striker there is....

Still quick although not lightning like previously, technically excellent... good finisher...

I suspect we will sell him this week, which considering the words form and fitness so rarely apply to him is probably for the best.

If he keeps fit, he's an excellent option to have

If being the key word

Given he's in his last year at Liverpool and we won't extend that the question will be is it worth losing the £15m in transfer fee and paying the £8m (?) in wages to have him hanging around on the bench.

I think the answer to that will be 'no'.

First full pre season he's had for years, strength power and conditioning will be at a maximum for him. It's now or never.

Why wouldnt we extend?
If he stays fit till January and proves himself. I think Klopp loves him and hes a great member of the squad.

He’s undoubtedly a very good player. Fantastic finisher and that cross field ball to Moreno and through ball to Solanke shows what else he can bring.

But, I’m half expecting him to break down whenever he’s involved. I hope for his sake that he stays injury free. As mentioned earlier, its now or never.

He looks hungry, focused and ready to contribute though. Good for him.

I know we all have this feeling it will go wrong and he will break again.
But he must know its his last year here if that happens and I do think he loves it here.
Maybe those half injuries that say a Milner would play through wont bother Daniel as much this year.

Id love him to play a lot, earn a new contract and go on and win trophies with us.
The squad love him, the fans love him, he does fuck loads of community stuff.
Every team needs a gay guy.

Lets just hope this is his return to glory year

He missed 2 good 1v1 chances yesterday. He has missed plenty of good chances over the past 2-3 seasons that the Sturridge of yester year will score without problem.

I don't think it is about him being a good finisher or not, he still is but he just doesn't have the legs to bring him to where he wants to be anymore. A good chance becomes a half chance because he doesn't have the time to properly strike the ball.

That explains alot of his effort to "chip" the ball nowadays. To others it seems clever/flamboyant but I just see it as a workaround of sorts because he just can't get there to belt the ball fully anymore.

I think he is better off at a team which puts the ball on a plate for him to finish, a team which needs him loitering around the 6 yard box and does minimum but to shoot and score. With us, we need the front 3 to create and be actively involved with lots of running. Sturridge just doesn't do that or have that anymore.

He will be a squadie this season, if we can get 5-10 goals out of him we will be laughing. I think he will be off on a free next season.

Why do it to yourself.

Sell him before he breaks down again.

He's not going to be an option. He'll be injured in no time

If and when he does break, then we will not be able to avoid getting fucked by Solanke. So your logic here is to sell him now, and guarantee the fuck by Solanke. Living in constant fear of being fucked is worse than just bending over and getting it over with. It makes sense from that point of view, but I'd rather trust to hope personally.

Id happily see us pay the 10m its going to cost to keep him around.

I dont get your logic.

As I said above it is more like £23m as you forgo a transfer fee. A lot of cash to be betting on Sturridge's fitness

It's worth the gamble if it wins us something. Show me someone else who will make a difference for the money we will spend in wages. No one.

I have no faith in his ability to remain fit but my God I am hoping for the best. He's displayed a great attitude this pre season and I would love for him to come good again.
