Curious case of Emiliano Insua

Two years back, people called him the shortest out-field player playing in the premiership.

The list here marks his height at 165 CM.

Is this true?

Thats 15 cm growth in less than two years. Is he on some sort of growth hormone medication? I have not seen anything like this among footballers. Most of them are fully grown men by the time they reach 16/17.

More importantly, is it really wise to write-off a player who is still physically growing? Was he even ready to play as many matches as he did last year?

Bone growth usually stops at 18. So a person may grow a bit after 18, but its not by much....15 cm is an awful lot.

This is from about two years back and should give a good indication. He's standing between Torres and Riera, who're both about 6'1. He looks about 5'10 easily. So that 165 cms thing is probably bollocks.

Wonderful. Hes not even in Thursdays squad and hes not injured so I presume its a season in the reserves. Incidentally I notice that our new CB is also not in the squad because of a hamstring injury.
