And gave them Aquiliani on a season long loan who is bossing the Serie A now.

I actually stuck up for Poulsen a bit in this thread and in the past. His header was pathetic but other than that he wasn't too bad. No one stood out bar Gerrard so it is unfair to overly lambast Poulsen.

Saying that I don't think he is good enough to keep his place at the moment. Lucas is out performing him which speaks for itself.

I have no problem with one from Lucas and Poulsen starting Sunday against Chelsea alongside Meireles but I fear Roy will play both which is suicidal.
Espn news say that inter is lining up to sign Lucas up!

From what ive seen, I honestly think hes a terrible footballer. To be fair, maybe his legs have gone a bit? I never saw him when he was younger, so I cant really say.

I just dont get the thinking behind it...'Lets sign a 30 year old one-paced dog, with a touch like Robbie Savage, in case we loose one of the best DMs in world football'.

These people get paid a lot of money not to run our club into the ground with idiotic signings, half this board knew he was gash before played a game for us.

Who could say knowing what they do now that they would still sign him, if you could go back to the summer? I bet not one person. Not even KHL I bet, who I think was his main supporter during the summer.

He used to be very good for Sevilla and the national team. He was named the transfer signing of the year by Marca in 2006 and won Danish footballer of the year award twice in a row. Then, for whatever reason, his level dropped dramatically and he was a total disaster at Juve. Great business for Sevilla though (as usual): signed for free, had 2 best seasons of his career with them, sold for 10 million euros to Juve.
I said the same in the summer. He was actually pretty good for Sevilla at the time they still had Alves as well, but he's declined quite badly since then. I watched a game he played for Denmark a few months ago and he was diabolical.

He was useless in the WC, and as Budgie was there, you'd think he might have noticed.

Hodgson knows he's shit and has given up on him, IMO.

Already in the B team and subbed after 60 minutes.

He'll be fucked off the summer for some Weathers.
Not here to ruin your day of course but I guess he was subbed early on as he's beeing lined up for Sundays encounter against Chelsea.

To be honest I wouldn't blame Roy for this.

With no Kuyt, Cole or Babel we're short on numbers in attack and I'll guess that'll mean Gerrard's beeing pushed forward with Meireles and Maxi on the wings and Lucas and Poulsen in central.

With regards to his performance last night. He was at fault for their goal but so was Carra and to some extent the sheer pasivity from Johnson and Kyrgiakos. Moments before Shelvey who's beeing seriously bigged up on these boards (and he really looks like a prospect) played Lavezzi free with a very poor backpass. It happens for CMs now and then Poulsens timing baring in mind his poor start at the club was just very bad to say the least.

He wasn't that bad otherwise nor good but about decent. He even at one point showed his decent eye for the pass when he set N'Gog free.

This is NOT me defending Poulsen because as has been said his start at Liverpool has been less than promising but fact remains no-one stood out last night bar the phenomenon who looks back to his very best.

My biggest concern at this stage is Roy's tactics. The way we're sitting back at times waiting for the opposition to attack us makes me want to kick my telly in the face. I don't mind a few CM even a few Dms too if they are told to push forward taking the game to the opposition otherwise it's just an accident waiting to happen really.

Good result nonetheless against some rather hyped players in Hamsik, Lavezzia and Cavani. None really impressed me btw. Our third victory on the trot too.

He was their most visible player admitted but quality? Perhaps he was then he just didn't convince me that the hype surrounding him is justified.

Did Hamsik even touch the ball?

Me too.

In the first half he was absolute class. He's very like Tevez, and now on my wish-list - providing he finds himself a new agent!

Chelsea would murder Poulsen. There's no point in playing him.

I'd rather see:

---Gerrard-------Shelvey-------Maxi---
------------Meireles--Lucas-------

I don't think Poulsen will play against Chelsea, I know Roy bought him but he's at least shown he's not stubborn and has dropped him or took him off when needs be. I think it'll be Meireles/Gerrard/Lucas in the centre with Maxi and another on the flanks.

I beg to differ. He may play poorly again but his best game by a mile so far was against United away.

Shelvey could end up looking completely out of his depths in a game like this and he look knackered for the last 20 minutes last night. No way he'll start come the Chavs. Bigger chance we'll see Spearing in there IMO.

Not after Gerrard's show last night. He's back. I don't care who we're up against next as he'll tear them a new one.

I have a good feeling about this game and whenever I have a good feeling about a game we lose badly.

Last time I felt this good about our chances we were playing Everton, the time before that it was Man City.

Well I saw a couple of games and he has been making good incisive forward passes, troubling the goalkeeper, making some decent tackles and some good forward runs, making himself available for passes and running the game during periods. Maybe my standards for "bossing" the game have decreased significantly over the last 14 months, but dont blame me for that.

Watched a bit of The Old Lady's game last night and boy they were completely underwhelming by all means.

Well apart from Del Piero obviously who's like a god amongst mediocre players at Juve these days.

TBF not all Juve fans shared the opinion of their management that it was time for Poulsen to leave. When he got his chance there he did OK. Many on here, myself included, were sceptical about buying him, but nobody could seriously have imagined how poorly he'd start off (with the exception of that game at Old Toilet, where he did fairly well, which makes his other performances all the more impossible to understand).

I guess it is like a Morientes scenario. He has had a good career, obviously not at the level of Morientes but still a very good career in Europe. All the Sevilla fans have a very high opinion of him. We were also linked to him before he went to Sevilla. Maybe he came to our club too late in his career. It is tough for players who are greater than 28 years old to suddenly adjust to the league. Maybe once he adjust to the league in three to four months time, he will prove to be a decent acquisition. I remember Evra's debut in the Derby, he looked lost, absolutely lost. It took Vidic also 4-5 months to settle down.
