Coutinho gone. 142m

I'm cannot believe he's gone now as opposed to the summer after the WC.

Our chances of winning the cl have taken a massive hit.

But he's gone and to get paid the third highest amount for a player who cost 8m isn't bad at all.

I just don't see anyone in our squad doing what he does and I fear the knock on effect will be a major dip in Firmino's form.

Add ons to the Coutinho deal

£4.4mil every 25 games up to 100 games; £4.4mil next two champions league qualifications and another £4.4mil if they win it.

That's a lot better than i though - you'd imagine most of that could come in the next year / 18 months

That doesn't add up even back to 142m unless the upfront figure is wrong.

Dreamy - our chances have gone up with more defensive stability. As far as I am concerned we are only guaranteed goals by this team if one of Salah or Mane plays - Coutinho/Firmino combination not good enough to win us games alone.

To beat the very best we needed all four imo.

I also hate the fact that his release clause is 350m

So he's only worth 106 up front but if anyone wants to buy him he's worth three times that.

Get fucked Barca

Id like us to use this opportunity to drop Firmino deeper andget a real baller up top like Auba

-----------------------------------------Auba---------------------------------
Mane-----------------------Frim-------------------------------Salah

Are you messing? He downed tools on the eve of our CL campaign starting and feigned injury. Calling him a rat is being nice.
I'm not messing. It's disappointing...Of course. I would love for him to pledge his undying allegiance to the red cause. Thing is, we've won fuck all for the 5 years he's been here. Can't really blame him for wanting to move on. I'll concede though he did act like a bit of a cunt last summer.

That's just Barca protecting their investment. You can't blame them, plus you wouldn't expect any team to pay that for him anyway.

A year ago I’d be arsed but we’re much stronger attacking now. So zero fucks are given other than if and how we spend the money.
^^^^ This is perspective you silly bellends! Disappointing but not surprising. Of course he was going to go. I'm amazed anyone thought otherwise.

Not necessarily.

The upfront fee is just what we receive in cash now.

So reports say that's 106.

Then there could well be an amount to be paid next summer or January guaranteed.

Then addons.

If we leaked the figure (pretty likely imo), then it will be all three (upfront, guaranteed future installments, & addons) together.

As always, the ultimate wisdom of our acquiescence to this deal is what we do with the money.

I have a horrible feeling that the answer from Klopp will be "nothing because it is very hard to buy players in January" or "having Lallana back is like a ready made replacement - I am happy with our squad".

Keira + VVD = 140m its already spent

Yeah, & since they got burned by having one last time, it's understandable it'd be silly high.

I remember the first time they got burned - when Luis Figo made the switch to Real Madrid, and more recently Neymar to PSG. You think 350M is high now - should be safe but you never know with inflation and clubs backed by petro-dollars.

I hate FSG's lack of spending as much as anyone, but even by their bare minimum standards there was approx 50m sitting banked unspent from the last two windows by the last figures I saw, so I doubt it's all gone.

Wages are a huge & much underappreciated issue though. I don't doubt we'll have massively cut the wage bill getting that Coutinho salary off the books.

Liverpool did everything they possibly could to keep him.........apart from saying you’re under contract and going nowhere that is. Arse cheeks parted for Barcelona once more, we are a club with absolutely no steel or ambition whatsoever.

Yea it is but 350m pound?
So you think the buyout clause should reflect market value?

It's always as high as they can manage to negotiate in with the players agent. For obvious reasons.

Following Neymar you can understand why they'd probably have liked to have set it at 600m if they'd have been allowed to.

Neymar's buyout clause used to look impossible & far beyond his value a couple of years back.

Plus CL and new EPL money.
Still if we had got Keita and VVD in august and let Coutinho go I think many would have been ok with that
