Oh dear.

Benitez is going to Juve. Broughton has nothing new to talk to him about re: investment. And I do mean NOTHING.
So Benitez is going to take the offer and funds promised.
Mascherano and Torres will *both* leave this summer.
Gerrard is 50/50 at best to stay.

We won't have a new manager in place for a while, although Hodgson looks likeliest.

It's game over.

And Lucas will sign a 5 year extension, claiming he wants to end his career at Anfield.

Sauce?

Or is there some sort of WHOOSH involved?
[/quote]

A journalist I know. He's not always right, but he has been quite often. Benitez is apparently stringing Juve along, because he DOES want to stay, but he's not going to sit back and wait for the asset-stripping to begin and leave himself with an even worse squad. Torres will not be staying either, because he doesn't want to play in an even worse team, and Masher may follow Benitez to Juve.

It's the gloomiest conversation I've had about LFC for a good while.

I think it's all going to boot off before the Hull game and speculation by Maddock re: Kenny care-taking over summer is spot on.

So what you're saying is we're not getting a billionaire owner and Mourinho as manager?

Doesn't look like it, no.

And two, possibly three, of our only WC players will be going.

This will be the worst summer ever.

What he's saying is that you can start looking for a new sporting interest. Maybe fly-fishing or something.

Less heartache and stress.

Yeah if I buy some bad rods or rods I'm not suited to I could sell them on at a loss and them blame my employers for not giving me enough money to buy good rods.

I really fear, that in the short term at least, we are fucked.

I had read a couple of articles recently that said, despite reports to the contrary, city sources stated that we were not likely to be sold in the near future.

I have been numb and depressed in equal measures since the Athletico match and I don't anticipate a change in the mood any time soon.

My best friend works at BarCap. There's nothing happening. Nothing good anyway.

O God, What a crap summer it is going to be.
I think it is time to break the internet.

What was all that on the radio yesterday saying Benitez is the one who has cancell the last two meeting in the last fortnight with the main man.

Stalling for Juve?

Surely they will get pissed off soon.

Just fucking sack him, he will go to Juve and the compensation will be minimal.

I worry that this will drag on and any new manager will have no time to settle in before start of season

We're gone from league challengers do looking like a team who will be competing for a place in the the Europa Cup with Villa, Spurs, Everton, etc.

The speed of the decline has been amazing. I've got next to no hope that we will somehow bounce back next year. Everything really is fucking shit. Everything.

And your journo friend knows this because?

It's probably bullshit.

Torres will stay one more season at least, and even more so if Rafa leaves.
Mascher could leave that is true.

Gerrard won't leave.

The only ray of hope I keep clinging to is why would RBS give the yanks a six month extension if they were not satisfied that there was a genuine hope of getting new owners.

I doubt whether Nando would like to leave us without a proper send off. Ending the season early with injury may influence his decision, you never know

anyone who thinks our problems will just disappear when rafa leaves is deluded, on the contray I think its was rafa rep and expertise that kept us amoun the elite. I seriously doubt torres would have come without rafa (torres' interviews pretty much said as much) and I doubt he'll stay when rafa leaves.

well it was good while it lasted...

can I just say what an utter complete fuck up by the board in regards to the position we are now. years and years of searching to come up with the second worst owners in footballing history. loaded us up with debt, forcing us to sell players to service a debt of them owning us, not ONE BRICK of the stadium laid.

thank you moores
thank you parry
thank you tom
thank you george

in three 3 years you have brought the most successful club in english history (until manu usurp us) to its knees

Hasn't everyone involved in the BarCap dealings signed a confidenciality agreement?

That surely means no one know whats going on until we're sold.

It will happen , and probably sooner rather than later.

I do not believe that Torres reveres Benitez in the the way you suggest. I'm sure Torres could be convinced to stay by the new manager coming in. But the real question is whether or not the new manager, or Benitez for that matter, is forced to sell Fernando to bring in the much needed funds to rebuild.

If no investment is forthcoming then £80M+ will be extremely tempting to any manager.
