For 500k a year? Youre fucking nuts then.
If i had the choice between them or somewhere else id pick somewhere else, but if its my life or 500k a year at the scum im there.
I hate them with a passion and sometimes you have to show a bit of moral fibre.
Id be tempted to work for the fucking Tories for 500k a year mate.
Its great that youre that sure and dedicated mate, but if me playing for the Mancs for a couple of years means security and stability for my daughter for life, then im a manc shirt wearing motherfucker.

Would any of you who say they would, work for the S** for 500k a year?
Good question. Na. I couldnt.

I wouldn't. It would just feel dirty and wrong.

And I would be devastated if my son went on to play for them shitebags.

Quite.

I mean it'd be tempting now 'cos I'm young and relatively skint, but I'm surprised at how easily people give up everything for a wad of cash.

You could never properly support Liverpool in the same way again. You'd be judged by everyone you knew.

Not worth it.
I wouldnt care what anyone else thinks of me. I know and would know what Liverpool means to me.

Easy to say I know but this thread does mention three things I don't think I could do:

1) Play for the Mancs
2) Work for The Lying Rag
3) Work for the Tories

That said, I wouldn't knock anyone on here who said yes to 1 or 3 given the money we're talking about.

Money won't buy you love Andy. It will, however, enable you to buy a pony.

The money would be ace but the daily abuse and shunning by friends just wouldn't be worth it. Plus you'd smell of poo. Forever.

I'd say no. I'm happy with my lot thanks and wouldn't lower myself to put that cunt of a shirt anywhere near my person.
I dont believe you.
I wouldn't. Believe it.
I just cant. Look at it this way. You're shit and as such would weaken their team.
I wouldn't Andy. I wouldn't play for Manchester United.
What if you were still young enough to shag lots of birds senseless?

I'd gladly take less money at another club, but for a chance to play Premiership football at 500k a year and if noone else wanted me...I'd go to the Scum.

Talking about moral fibre is a touch harsh, we're not talking about raiding pension funds.

Solskjaer was a massive Red, and I'm sure he'd have LOVED to wear our colours.

But it was the Scum which came calling, and I don't hold it against him.

No but we are talking about playing for a club whose fans, and a considerable proportion at that, find it ok to sing about those who died at Hillsborough and how much they hate Scousers and how much my hometown is a shithole. I wouldn't play for them.
But we sing songs about munich and what a shitehole my hometown is. Its a tad unfair to be blinkered about it.
Obviously i count Liverpool way above Manchester in every single way, but i wouldnt be particularly moralistic about my decision. Like i said if the choice was 1k a week at Liverpool or 10k a week at United id choose Liverpool, but given the choice is nothing or everything, well its no choice at all.

You'd also become indoctrinated into the United way.

Your hatred of all things United couldn't possibly survive the duration of your stay. It's just human nature. The thought of 75,000 people cheering you on would appeal to the smallest of egos. It wouldn't belong before before Darren Fletcher became "not a bad lad really" and you could "understand' Neville's point of view. Vile.

Maybe that's all meaningless when you've got kids to look out for or whatever.

I accept that maybe if presented with the question in real life it'd be a lot, lot harder decision than I'm putting across on here, but I'd still like to think it'd be a decision I'd reject.

Is that what people really worry about in life - their hatred of Utd staying true? It's not that important in the grand scheme of things is it? I mean, come on.

Once football gets in the way of looking after yourself and your family, you need to take a step back.

I dunno Keni, it depends on how seriously you take loyalties.

I'm not a thug and wouldn't beat anyone up over anything as trivial as football - but there are lines to be crossed.

Kinda like treason.

There's more to it than hating United. But football, and everything that goes with it, is one of my greatest passions, and it'd become diluted and tarnished if I accepted to play for United.

I don't know. I think it's safe to say that for most of the regulars on here, football is a big part of life, but in my opinion there are things that are just more important to consider.

People do all manner of jobs to provide for their family, things that they didn't exactly dream about as a kid - nobody really grows up wanting to clean toilets after all. Why should this be any different?

If someone you knew god forbid needed a large sum of cash for an operation or something, would you not feel a little bit pathetic that you turned down a job that would mean you had that money ready to hand over?

Of course

A big part of it is I don't need the cash now because I've got few responsibilities, and I'm also happy with my job. All of which makes it easy to sound 'holier than thou' about the situation. If circumstances were to change dramatically for the worse, then it'd probably be different.

Ok, how about this one.....

Your sister comes home one day with Gary Neville on her arm, saying she loves him and wants to head to Vegas to marry him.

Do you object?

Accept what? You have no authority over her.

However if she could now afford to buy me that new Alfa Romeo because of it, I'd be all for it.

I would take United's money, no problem. As I said I would be ripping them off anyway, and that's how I will justify it. If however I wasn't me and I was a great player I would sign for almost anyone else instead.

Working for The Lying Rag, I don't think I could do. However it still depends what I would have to do and what the money is. If you were offered 1 million pounds to write one article that wouldn't be edited at all then I think most would consider it

As for a family member going out with Gary Neville, well, I don't have a sister, only a brother. If my brother started going out with Gary Neville I would probably sell the story.
