[article]Sadio Mane’s Senegal topped Group B in this year’s African Cup of Nations with seven points and have progressed to the quarter finals of the competition.

They are next set to face off against Joel Matip’s home nation on Saturday (7pm kick-off).

However, on January 31st - three days after Senegal’s match - the Reds lock horns with Premier League leaders Chelsea at Anfield. And, if Senegal are eliminated against Cameroon, Mane could be available for that big showdown.[/article]

If they win, Mane on the bench or even starting ...

We need him ... Will give us a far better chance against the Chav cunts.

Would love to have him back ASAP too but what effect will it have on his morale/confidence (the winner of this clash should fancy their chances to win the ACoN) - not forgetting he'll get less than 3 days of rest and travelling to do (for the Chelsea clash).

With the exception of Milner, can't really think of many players in the current squad who has won major honours/tournaments before.

Rigobert Song won the African Cup Of Nations twice.

Didn't do that fucker much good.

And Diouf has been African footballer of the year twice, and he's the most useless shitcunt of them all.

I hear you. Just thought that since he has missed games because of the tournament and had a pretty good start to it, might as well go on and win it rather than let things end in a whimper.

Unfortunately, Senegal will win this one.

He's not going to fly back after presumably 90 minutes of pub football and play a big role two days later, so i doubt we would see much of him against Chelsea even if the result was to go our way.

It's only ca. a 5-6 hour flight to Manchester, that's really nothing, especially since the time difference, if there's any I haven't checked, won't be more than 1 hour. Tiredness shouldn't be a factor at all.

Come on Cameroon !!

He's just played 120mins and if that isn't draining enough his head will be fooked after missing the pen. Best we can hope for is he makes the bench but even that's a sign of desperation for me.

No chance he's making the squad for Tuesday, get him fit and ready to speed for Saturday.

Would be best if no one mentions a thing to him about the cups.

Sadio Mane penalty fail puts Cameroon into ANC semis; Burkina Faso advance

Burkina Faso and Cameroon advanced to the African Nations Cup semifinals after getting through quarterfinal matches on Saturday.

Cameroon needed penalties to get past Senegal, winning the shootout 5-4 after a goalless 120 minutes.

After both teams were perfect through four rounds of spot kicks, Liverpool's Sadio Mane saw his attempt saved by Cameroon keeper Fabrice Ondoa and Vincent Aboubakar converted the final strike.

Cameroon will next play the winners of Sunday's match between DR Congo and Ghana.

To quote Macca, we ARE fucking desperate ... we need to get our season back on track.
