Just watched videos of a genuinely distraught Mane in tears being consoled by his teammates. This obviously means a lot more to him than what most of our fans can comprehend given our plight at the moment. So, even if he is physically fit, I'd question the wisdom of chucking him into the front line on Tuesday unless he shows signs that he can get over this defeat ASAP.

Everyone knows it's devastating to lose in your continent's major tournament - especially if you've missed a key penalty. It happens in most tourneys, be it club or international ... So yes, I know it means a shit load to him - but I'd not Senegalese (and I don't think anyone on our site is!), so obviously we're putting Liverpool and our interests ahead.

Whilst very sad for any player missing a penalty in those circumstances it happens to many and although they are distraught they are still good players who, when put on the pitch, will perform, they don't all go to shite.

People react in different ways, we can only wait and see how Mane will be but fact is he can't, even at his worst, be anything but better than we've seen from his wing replacements over the past couple of weeks.
 
Playing for us against the Chavs could be exactly what the guy needs. The only possible danger I can see might be that he might try TOO hard instead of just doing his thang. You can bet the other lot are hoping he doesn't play.

Hardly. Big if, but if we beat Chelsea, they play Arsenal next. Should Arsenal win that, Title race is wide open again. Obviously all big ifs, but our season could be looking very good again in 7 days time.

If we had beaten wolves we'd still be in fa cup, if we'd scored a few goals against Southampton over 2 legs we may be in a cup final next month.

Top 4 would certainly be an improvement on where we finished last season, as obviously we won't be winning the league, and it's unlikely we'll finish above Spurs or Arsenal, but the cups were the most obvious chance to win a trophy and that's gone, so it's understandable everyone is a bit upset and miserable

Especially because finishing top four isn't going to address the whole bottling/lack of leadership/psychological brittleness we have running through the team.

A win against Chelsea could reignite our season again.

We've arranged a private jet to get Sadio back to Merseyside according to the Times. Guess he'll be on the bench on Tuesday.

You seem to be unable to distinguish 'miserable' and 'realistic'

Although in fairness, you've never really had much of a grip on realistic
 
Everyone's talking about getting Mane back on a f-6 Private Jet in 20 minutes and ready in time for Tuesday but have and fair enough, that is instinct reaction but has anyone even taking a second to think about Mane's state of mind?

He's just missed the crucial pen that has cost Senegal the AFCON...as happy as Liverpool fans are I don't think Sadio himself is in the right frame of mind..

It will certainly be his biggest test since he joined Liverpool. He's had a great season so far, I really can't blame him if he goes missing for a bit after this; he's human after all.

But, hopefully, he reacts to it the other way and uses it as motivation for the rest of the season - the team isn't exactly in the best form for him to come back to though, he's going to have to lift them all at this rate.
 
I can't imagine that's something you get over quickly but he looks like a winner so I think he'd be chomping at the bit to play again.

Don't think it will matter with the state of our defensive set up.
 
Agree with your first para, but the fact that he'll still be smarting from that Cup exit might make him chomp at the bit more than ever.

If we can get our attacking mojo working, that in itself might help us sort the defence. Klopp's teams have always attacked and defended as a unit.
