I have so many people sending me messages I've now got a list of prepared answers! This one seems appropriate!
....
Its natural for humans to fear the unknown but this needs to be put into perspective.
If you were to study a disease progression graph, specifically one with a long incubation period like 2019 nCoV which has person to person transmission, then clearly it can not be contained and is already global (its been found in over 20 countries already). As with all cold and flu viruses there is no way to stop the spread only slow it down. It'll still end up as a global pandemic in the end though (look out for the upcoming WHO declaration)
However no need to panic - just research Flu / Pneumonia and you'll get the bigger picture. Unless you are old or suffer lung issues then fatality rates are miniscule compared to other 'diseases' : such as car accidents!
And for some perspective when you see X people died in city Y : 80,000 died from Flu / Pneumonia (and resulting complications) in the USA alone last year. 217,000 in China in 2015 (last figures I could find - about #5 in the cause of death listings). Those figures from established flu strains. Perspective not Panic.
Of course preventative precautions should be taken to reduce exposure but as far as I'm aware it's only China that's at that stage at the moment.
