Chelsea v Liverpool - Match Thread

The decision to play such a high line, with a falling press, against Timo Werner and Mason Mount is bordering on idiotic. The tactical naivety is just getting frustrating at this point.

Klopp is trying subtle changes to his failing 433 is akin to sticking lipstick on a pig.

Get Jota on and try and salvage something.

Very poor from Fabhino and TAA to let him cut in and shoot.

Klopp with work to do. We’ve second best all half.

Very poor but typical of our Anfield performances for months now. We've had a couple of chances and wasted them but always looked vulnerable to the counter attack.

That was like the seventh time they tried that and they scored. Fabinho looks off the pace here. Would bring on Key ta for Thiago tbh

We need a right back who can defend, we've watched goal after goal come down that side for years now.

thoughts:

1) Mane is burnt out - non-stop playing for 3 years, COVID and no protection whatsoever from refs. Our manager should start talking about how often he, and Salah, get manhandled with nothing. Maybe the refs will listen to him, like they do for Manc penalties?
2) Their 1st goal was a goal. VAR is a joke, as usual.
3) Salah is playing fantastic
4) Get Bobby out of there - let JOta or Keita play the position. He doesn't do anything in a struggling team, as he's showing most games this year.
5) Really don't want this team to break this Anfield record - they don't deserve it but can anyone see us scoring a goal? We are shit at home getting results since the streak ended (thanks Dreamy) - it's unreal.

This has bugger all to do with players playing out of position, injured players etc. This is all down to tactics and our idiotic high line. End of.
Agree. Think we can fix it by changing our shape when our strikers get the ball and not committing so high up the counter is so open

RB is a clear weakness and we need an AWB option, I agree.

But if it's our first team out there, Gomez probably fancies his chances 1 v 1 on the outside, unlike Fab, so doesn't show him inside.

And if he does show him inside, Fab would usually be there covering.

But without the others covering his arse defensively, he looks a liability.

Our press is not good enough to force the likes of Jorginho and Kante into mistakes. If we want to improve it, perhaps Keita for Firmino or Jones could be an option.

Thiago just doesn't do enough..odd decent pass isn't enough..and Jones is OK ish..Gini is battling but it's not enough against top teams..

And your solution is to sub on 2 strikers to replace our strikers and put on Shaq that’ll fits more into any of their midfielders pocket?

I don't understand why he's playing Firmino so deep where he's pretty much a midfielder when Keita is on the bench. If we continue to put square pegs in round holes then it's no wonder it's all going to shit for us. It's not as if Firmino is in good form he's playing dogshit and has done for weeks and predictably he's having no effect on this game at all. Totally anonymous.

I don't think any of them do generally. It's not a great passing midfield or particularly creative.

And it's not full of running, tackling and energy either.

Why do we play the high line when we do not have anywhere near enough pressure upfront? Once we lose the ball, it's over the top and we are in trouble,

Keita Jota please

in the defence of Trent i don’t think he expected Mount to be allowed inside like that
