FIFA have banned Chelsea from registering any new players in the next two registration periods after finding them guilty of inducing French teenager Gael Kakuta to breach his contract with Lens.

Just heard great news.

CHELSEA have been banned from registering any new players for the next two transfer windows in a shock move by FIFA after being found guilty of inducing a French teenager to breach his contract with another club.

Gael Kakuta, 18, joined Chelsea from Lens two years ago after which the French club lodged a complaint with FIFA.

Now FIFA's dispute resolution chamber (DRC) has ruled that Kakuta breached his contract with Lens and that Chelsea induced him to do so.

FIFA said in a statement: "The French club had lodged a claim with FIFA seeking compensation for breach of contract from the player and requesting also sporting sanctions to be imposed on the player and the English club for breach of contract and inducement to breach of contract respectively.

"The DRC found that the player had indeed breached a contract signed with the French club. Equally, the DRC deemed it to be established that the English club induced the player to such breach.

"As a result the player was condemned to pay compensation in the amount of EUR 780,000, for which the club, Chelsea, is jointly and severally liable, and sporting sanctions were imposed on both the player and Chelsea in accordance with art. 17 par. 3 and 4 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players.

"A restriction of four months on his eligibility to play in official matches is imposed on the player Gael Kakuta while the club Chelsea is banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, for the two next entire and consecutive registration periods following the notification of the present decision.

"Furthermore, Chelsea, has to pay RC Lens training compensation in the amount of EUR 130,000."

Couldn't happen to a nicer team. Very poor for Kenyon and co to leave the club at risk of something like this. I imagine it will be overturned or reduced on appeal though.

That's an amazing kick in the teeth.

I'm shocked that FIFA had the balls to finally stand up and do something.

Fifa has banned Chelsea from buying any new players in the next two transfer windows after finding them guilty of inducing Gael Kakuta, the French teenager, to breach his contract with Lens.

More to follow.

Which will be reduced to one on appeal - so no new players in January for them then.

You ruined my happyness.

Appeal will be filed with the Cocks of Arbitragers before the ink is dry on that FIFA statement, I'd guess.

Essien, Kalou, Drogba and co all off to the Africa Nations cup too.....

BIG blow to their future title hopes.

Ha. Sorry mate. Cheer up though. They might still be banned for the Jan window. African Cup of Nations and a couple of injuries might leave them in some bother.

.... and that would also mean they can't sell anyone so the likes of Anelka, J.Cole etc. are stuck there. Can you see that happening ? I can't.

There will be a deal behind-the-scenes and the ban will be suspended and replaced with a nominal (relatively speaking) fine. Money talks.

1. Why would they sell their top scorer from last season

2. Why would they sell a striker playing well with Drogba this season?

this is exactly the kind of distraction, whether it sticks or not, that Chelsea & Ancelotti didn't need. fantastic.

they will be able to sell players just not register news ones at Chelsea (FIFA control registrations)

I think this will stand if FIFA want it to

Anelka wanted a new deal - Chelsea won't give him one.

They won't be allowed to sell players?
[/quote]

Well it says "no transfer dealings" - so that has to be assumed to mean both ways. Wonder what the European Court would say to that ?

Therein lies the problem... I'm guessing its just for show from FIFA and Chelsea have already put some deal in place where they'll get a 'suspended' sentence...

Chelsea can appeal to an abritration panel who will also look at it. if FIFA have done their job and it is as serious breach as they make out then it will stand.

Seems an unrealistic punishment to a relatively minor crime. I know fining them is pointless but still, this is a severe punishment and I expect it to be reduced.

Great news for us, though. That squad's ageing and it'll hinder their managers attempt to stamp his mark on the team; however it'll mean little in the short term, and we shouldn't lose sight that Chelsea are perfectly capable of winning the Premier League & Champions League this year.

Haha

I'm very pleased that the Chavs have been made an example of in this case.

TBH i couldn't care less if it's fair or not, i just hope this news unsettles them a little bit in the Prem as well.

It might be a relatively minor case , but is it an isolated one, I suspect not.
Serves them right, I just hope any appeal is overturned.
It gives the current players a bit of a whip hand does it not?

regards

In the summer of 2005, Chelsea - along with Jose Mourinho and Ashley Cole - were handed record fines after being found guilty of tapping-up. The club were also given a suspended three-point deduction. Does that now apply?

Roman will get his chequebook out and this will go away. They'll be allowed to deal in the next two windows no doubt about it.

On a side note - Didn't Chelski haven't some suspended points deduction if they misbehaved again? How long were they suspended for?
