I bet Newcastle would be competitive, if they were competitive. Let's hope it remains theoretical.

Mourinho analyzing the CL final. I know he's a cunt but I'd advise you to watch. He's obviously very knowledgeable about football in general. Interesting to hear his take on some of our players.

Yeah I've seen that already. Very good.

Ok, possibly the weirdest trip-to-Madrid story ...

Drove to Madrid. Sun, beer, singing, Big Ears, beer, singing, sun. Very nice that we are MIGHTY once again. 🙂

Drove back on the Sunday. On the way back (southern France ?) guilt overcame me and I rang my wife from a service station. As it was very hot, I sat down on a tree stump while talking.

200 or so miles later (30-32 degrees), stopped again. I literally could not get out of the driver's seat. My shirt, shorts, undies, arse cheeks, and car seat were all glued together by some superglue-like tree sap. Took a few minutes of painful wriggling and tearing just to get out. Then had to dig out spare clothes, waddle to the gents, change clothes (agony), and make car seat safe to use again. First and last time my arse smelt pleasantly like a pine forest. 🙂

Details of my efforts to take a shit later that day are via paid subscription only ...

Oh, and have finally had a haircut. Every single fucker in the fan park was 'Ha ha ! Back to the Future ! Ha ha ha !
John's lucky hair is now available to selected customers only. PM me for prices, delivery, etc.

That's a man who loves his players and is happier for them than he is for himself... How could you not love that bloke?

The more I watch Klopp operate, the more impressed I get. In addition to his football acumen he (a) understands at a very profound level what it is to create and lead a unified team - by which I mean the whole club, owners and all - and, at least as important, (b) WANTS to work like that because something fundamental within him drives him in that direction. He gets it and he means it. Top marks to the owners for seeing these things and bringing him in as soon as they could.

Hope all is well with you, mo chara.

Re-created, I'd say. Something in the air these days is beginning to remind me of the feeling Shanks built up in and around the club - and look where THAT led. 😎

I'm still astonished by the Barcelona game.

I don't think I'll ever forget that.

Thanks to all for the clips and pics.

Nice thought. 😀

Serious answer: I'm not looking that far ahead. Shanks was manager for a decade and a half, so I'm hoping for something similar in Klopp's case. Whether Lijnders (a) will still be here by then, and (b) will be the man to succeed him, I have no way of knowing. As Chou En-Lai said when someone asked him what he thought of the French Revolution, it's too soon to tell. Maybe a cheeky long-term bet on Stevie G? 😉
