Klopp and City boss Pep Guardiola want to rejuvenate their back lines this summer, having identified left-footer Colwill as a top target. Both sides are prepared to go head-to-head for the 20-year-old, who the Evening Standard labelled a “future England star.”

Colwill has impressed at Brighton this term and has been tipped for an England call-up ahead of Euro 2024.

He could also be a transformative presence for Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool. While primarily a centre-back, Colwill has been known to operate at left-back too.

Given the Chelsea youngster is more defensively-minded than the Reds’ first choice Andrew Robertson, should Klopp play Colwill at left-back he could tuck in and allow Alexander-Arnold to play an ‘inverted full-back role’.

Indeed this would ease the defensive strain on Alexander-Arnold, and allow the 24-year-old to thrive in the opposition half of the pitch.

Of course, while this is a potential option for the future, Colwill is primarily a centre-back, and that is likely where he would operate under Klopp.

The Blues star has only two years on his Chelsea contract and Todd Boehly has made it clear that he does not want players running down their deals. The American has insisted he is prepared to sell players to ensure that this does not happen.

This kid looks the real deal. Let’s hope Chelsea’s stupid spending spree will result in them having to sell valuable assets like him and we are able to profit.

Who else are we being linked with?

Colwill would be an exceptional pickup, but it would be van dijk money, so it's pointless.

Jurrien Timber or Facunda Medina.

N'Dicka would make sense too.

More than likely some of these. Inacio from lisbon as well

How can a kid with 8 premier league starts under his belt be worth 70m....and no the answer is not "because Chelsea say so" nor is it "because he looked a million dollars that 1 time against Liverpool"

Harvey has about 40 games in the Prem and looked a magician against Utd, doesn't mean he's suddenly worth 70m.

Chelsea need a long term CB, he's english, and he's young. They wouldn't sell him for a reasonable fee to a rival.

Thats genuinely the answer.

They literally just signed Fofana for 70m and Badiashile for 35m. Whether they value his potential at 70m or not, nothing stops them from going out and agreeing a deal tomorrow for Gvardiol or Disasi for 100m.

If they wouldn't sell him for a reasonable fee then there shouldn't be any links to him in the first place....especially to us, on what planet do we think it's a good idea to sign a kid with literally a handful of games for 70m when our budget is probably 70m.

As if Chelsea are selling us one if their best young players, this is nonsense.

Bella Kotchap at Southampton is very good. Andersen at Palace is worth a look too.

Dont worry, we are still in monitoring phase. That will go on for some time till his price increases substantially. Then we will step in with a bid which is 30% of what Chelsea want which will be laughed off. Then Klopp will come up with a dumb analogy in the press conference admonishing us fans for expecting a Maserati etc.

"admonishing"

Corrr' I love that word.

Peekay you are on 1 today my man.

How shit must our scouts be that everybody else are finding these talents that supposedly go from 0-100 in record time yet we're stuck with players like Doak Gordon Harvey and Bajcetic who go from 0-10 and stay there for about 2 years before plodding off somewhere else.

Why bother to bid when you can just brief journos that he's overpriced

Klopp - "Whatever I say, you'll go and write a different story anyway....one that you want everyone to see"

2 years left on his deal, so there could be a potential decent fee there to be agreed.

Gvardiol is the same type of player albeit better and more expensive. Doubt he'll be sold this summer.

Dont think I would go for any of those two in all honesty.

Chelsea could be forced to sell.

He said recently that leipzig won't sell. Doesn't seem the type to force the issue either. He'll go next year

That’s reported to have been a properly spiky presser.
I saw it, Klopp was his usual self...not sure what went on in the embargo section though, maybe flared up more than it did there but the one that's aired for everyone to see he seemed fine....nothing to suggest he was delighted to be there but simultaneously no signs of any real frustration or losing his cool.

It’s in the embargo section when it’s all reported to have kicked off. Allegedly.
