Cecil: Good or Bad for LFC?

I can see the problem people have with him on the basis that he doesn't have the credentials to be picking football teams, but calling him a failure and a liar because of stuff going on in the background of a half a billion quid deal is a bit off. Anyone here ever worked on even a million quid project and not had to move the goalposts fairly regularly? On top of that, factor in this is a lot bigger, and the two main heads are secretive bastards who live thousands of miles away. Purslow has a very tough job, one that any outsider couldn't possibly gauge how effective he's managing.

I think that is fair, LFC is on constantly shifting sands and what was said in good faith a few months, or even weeks ago might not fit the scheme right now.
As has been said, how permanent he is we can only guess, I suspect as and when new owners come in they will have their own man. That said, they will need to retain some continuity in the short to medium term.
I have still not been given any really tangible evidence to say he is a problem.

regards

Given that Mr Broughton is on 'shifting sands' it would be better to say nothing than make promises he can't reasonably keep or answer fans questions when he doesn't have a firm grasp on the future direction of the club.

Take a leaf out of the old-style Directors book and act first and talk later. He's trying too hard to be open and giving detractors ammunition.

I'm looking forward to the announcement of the new owners and not endless information about the process.

Whatever club and whatever situation you can only speak as you see things at the time, and I would rather have that and realise I had the intellect to understand that it might change than to be told fuck all.
Taking a leaf out of the old style directors book could be a great idea. They said fuck all, and fans just waited to see what happened without bleating. Now we seem to have a right to all the answers to all the questions, and snap up the bits that suit whatever agenda is in mind.

Exactly. It doesn't matter how your intellect perceives it, it's just talking for the sake of it and is then used against Mr Broughton.

I'm old fashioned, I like Directors who direct and don't 'comment' at every turn.
