Carragher has signed an extension

Surely, he'll move into a coaching role and hopefully/eventually become manager.

What a 'boys own' dream that is (Assuming he goes on to be a successful manager of course)

Rawk will be gutted, his reign of terror will continue.

Yep. Just had a look over at their thread on this.

Opinion ranges from the minority who are okay saying that he deserves it because he is a great servant to the club

onto those who are just a bit thick saying that it is bad news because he's past it

onto the mildly loony ones who say that 'of course he got a new contract, he runs the club'

through to the complete and utter mentalists who say that he should fuck off because of what he did to Rafa and that he clearly thinks his own contract is more important than the future of the club and he has done it now because any sensible new owner would get rid of him immediately (as if he personally put the statement out today!)

Not really, it does add a little stability to a very uncertain time.

I guess I'm in the minority here because to me Carragher signing a contract extension (as if he's going to leave anyways) ranks near bottom in terms of contributing to the stability of the club.

You're right, in fairness.

But all that was needed was for Carragher to say this 'I hope this ownership issue gets resolved as I really want to commit my future'.

SSN : 'Carra threatens toleave unless club resolves ownership debacle'

Paul Merson : 'Well, is not surprising..us players need certainty..we are mybe, jut mybe..seeng the end of the one club player'

"Professor" Tom Cannon : 'This is merely another indication of the perilous financial situation Liverpool is in now....and Everton ROXXX'

Hahahaha. Didnt take you long to get onto SSN.

Heh, that sounds about right.

I just don't bother watching Sky at all apart from the actual game - I even skip the pre/half-time/post match discussions.

I watch most games on foreign stations now even if Sky have coverage.

SSN is a great channel to have on in the background but I struggle to make a concious effort to watch it.

Saturdays is a given. As it's either that or fucking Garth crooks

Or just pick what games you wanna watch & watch them all day instead, novel idea, I know. watching footy, instead of people talking about footy!

@pazman142
Tom Parry
heard enough about the shambles that is #lfc. You know things are bad when you offer 'car crash' Carragher a 2 year contract

In fairness, it is a bit of an odd time to be conducting contract negotations.
[/quote]

It is, but Carragher is no fool.

He knows things will be different under NESV and people in his situation won't get contracts handed out willy nilly. The Red Sox have had no problem letting club icons go when they think the cost of keeping them will outweigh the usefulness they'll bring to the team. Johnny Damon being the prime example.

Carragher is by no means finished however this new contract would appear to be based on past service rather than merit.

I guess they'll be pretty miffed then that on the day they 'might' take over we've just committed the club to spending a fortune for the next three years!

Yes, Carra timed this perfectly to make the most of the chaos, nd rush through the contract before the new Yanks arrive.

Of course!

Yeah... he said he wanted to sign a new contract at the start of the season and was waiting for the club to offer him one.
The club must have contacted his agent and im pretty sure it went very quickly.

These Carra stories on RAWK are nauseous

Personally i still believe Carra is our best defender so am delighted he has signed a new deal.

Those opposing it are basically assuming that he if he does lose his starting place he will hang around and take the money. Does that sound like Carra really?

All this does is secure his place in the squad. If it doesn't work out for us or him we can still sell him!

Its not as if every player sees their contract out is it!
