Can Someone Who Isn't Mental, Convince Me...

we will need some luck and for the other teams to have crap seasons. similar to the year Rafa nearly won it where other teams were pants for their normal standards. Unfortunately we blew it in January that season, it may have been our best chance for 20 years.

I worry if we will ever win it again but we will always be close unlike Forest and Villa mentioned

The reason we nearly won in 2009 wasn't due to luck, it was due to bad luck that we didn't win it. We were the best team in the league that year.

Not going to happen sadly. We may have a decent run at it one day in the next 5 years or so, with luck and a following wind, but win it? No chance. The fact we're between 20 and 28 to 1 on oddschecker says it all really.
A bored Arab or Russian is our only chance, because modern football is a wankathon between different rich gangsters.

yes we were the best team because the teams who had been better than us the years before were having poor seasons. we were not suddenly better they were just worse until we bottled it in Jan

The human race has had the ability to destroy itself completely for less than 70 years - and the keys to these technologies have been held by states that have been banded together by the concept of mutually assured destruction. But how long until massive weapons become a thing that a few well trained loonies can either build or acquire? It can't be much more than another hundred years. If we say 200 on the outside and also assume that football remains popular until the apocalypse then we've got that long to retain the title.

I doubt that's enough time. Maybe if it was 250.

Reading that made my brain ache. Please stop.

This is a pretty persistent myth in some quarters. Utd got 90 points that year, the same as Arsenal's 'Invincibles'. They won it more than we 'lost' it.

We were top at xmas, it was a true season of two halves. UTD were pants until january, chelsea and Arsenal were not as good as the previous seasons.

We were a great team but UTD showed their class at finishing seasons, we bottled it

IMO of course

I think the truth is more that we actually *overperformed* that year. Torres was injured for half of it (only got 14 in the league if I remember right), Rafa blew £19m on Keane who barely made a contribution, so for a lot of time Kuyt was our only fit and effective striker. I always thought we did a great job squeezing so much out of a good but not great squad. Sure, we had a brilliant midfield, but Utd had Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez, and Berbatov as strikers. They were just a better team than us, people should get over it.

But how would he know it would ache his brain before reading it? He had to read it to realise it ached. Then again.....

We did what we were expected to do. arsenal and Chelsea under performed that year

Of course we can fucking win it. We need better tactics, some better players (though this isn't the core issue)

We need everyone at the club to be fucking fighting every second they're on the pitch, running about and stuff.

i suspect that's how Rodgers convinced FSG to hire him . Slide one of presentation - "We need everyone at the club to be fucking fighting every second they're on the pitch, running about and stuff."

ha, very serious on a monday morning i see . Yes , i truly believe that is Rodger's philosophy . argh i can't lie, i don't believe it is , it's too advanced for rodgers and lacks envelopes .
