Boxing please

He's a beast. I'd love him to mop up the HW div and sorta do what Holyfield/Tyson did, being smaller guys. He's got all the skill, but I wonder if he's just giving too much weight away when Tyson and Holyfield were giving away a couple of stone, and some height, he's giving away 3-4st and I wonder if that's too much.

I think he’s too agile for Joshua and Wilder whilst being a smaller target he could get on the inside of fury. I’d like to see him undisputed two weight champion.

I think he's mandatory for one of the belts, so if he wants it, he should get a shot at Joshua this year, OR, Joshua has to vacate and let him get a crack elsewhere. Joshua is trying up the division by only fighting twice a year whilst holding 3 belts. He either needs to fight 4 times a year, or fuck off some of the belts and do what Wilder is doing I guess. There's talk now that there's a rematch clause in this Fury Wilder fight, regardless of the outcome ffs. And after that it could look like W1 W1 D1 so they will probably want aaaaaanother one.

So they've both come in a bit heavier, Fury looks in pretty decent shape though (for him) without taking his shirt off. Hope it doesn't slow the thing down.

What to say about that. Fantastic performance, not seen a hw one like that for a long time.
And as for that song after, brilliant.
Hope they feed him up aj next and he batters him too.

Absolutely battered him, Wilder can’t box for shit and relies so heavily on his right hand, he got absolutely schooled.

Bullied from Round 1 by the Gypsy King.

But gotta say this aint the same Wilder from the last fight. His legs were gone by the 2nd round.

A bit disappointed tbh. I was expecting a more explosive fight.

No offense but seriously ?

1. Fury
2. Wilder
3. Whyte2.0/Andy Luiz/AJ

That’s where AJ belongs atm. He has to prove himself and beat the likes of Whyte and Wilder before he gets a mention with Fury who schooled Wilder today. And if you believed him, he wasn’t even boxing more than 15% of what he could.

Don’t forget a beaten Wilder don’t mean he’s no longer dangerous. He’ll still scare the daylights out of AJ. I like AJ as a person but as a boxer nah sorry. Unless he switches things up in his style, he’ll still be this mechanical, one dimensional and boring boxer to me. Lacks the flair and explosiveness of the heavyweight greats.

Also he gotta beat Pulev first.

No offence to be taken. I don’t the the IBF, WBO and WBA champion of the world should “sit down”.

The current crop aren’t anywhere the greats standards. Lewis, Tyson and Holyfield would’ve had this lot for breakfast.

I still think Usyk will take all the belts in time.

The referee was a bit weird. The fight was about to be over, he split them up and deducted a point. For, reasons? Beating the shit out of the local guy is against the rules in vegas.

Yes found that strange too.
And yes AJ should stay the fuck away from Wilder and Fury. Not on their level, I'm afraid.

I thought both the ref & Wilders corner were both at fault for not stopping that much much earlier, after his eardrum burst he couldn't stand up properly, never mind defend himself.

The ref looked like he was shitting himself the whole fight. In the first knockdown, the ref was more concerned with Fury than he was with keeping his focus on Wilder who was on the floor. He then began the count at 6! He was very strange.

For an uppercut while the ref was separating them

Wilder's best moment was his very impressive mask/ crown thing with the red eyes.

Went downhill from there.

But while I do admire Fury's ring craft and his boxing ability, I still don't love watching him box as much as I Feel like I should. Doesn't ever seem to punch cleanly or spectacularly and his matches are scruffy to watch, tactical and with loads of holding.

I'm probably in the minority though, but his box office and popularity is almost entirely personality driven; loads of his fights are rubbish, or are elevated by his opponent and his own defensive skills and durability.

Shut up or you're dead

If you really want to laugh/ fume/ kill someone, may I suggest warming up by reading the comments on the BBC story about the fight.

I've read about 5 pages and so far we've had * deep breath*

Tyson is a bigot and an evil Christian; boxing is like porn for rich people; why is the BBC promoting this sport, are they corrupt?; Women's cricket headlining over Fury; Drug cheats; Boris Johnson; Labour should ban boxing; is Tyson English or Irish?; paedophiles; Billy Eilish; Wilder was robbed; Tyson is as good as Ali; why is this leading the news page with all the terrible things going on in the world.

It's everything that is fucked about this country, social media and irredeemably thick cunts all in one gigantic thread.

When I was about twelve my grandad said the most offensive funny thing that anyone has ever said when I asked him whether he was watching the Bruno fight later. 'i don't watch boxing son, it's chess played with black guys by jews'. Stick that in your BBC comments section and smoke it.

Yeah, but it's violent chess with punching and blood

Usyk ? Only one win in the heavyweight division and it was a nobody. He’s still got a long way to go to prove himself in the division, provided he still has the motivation.

You’re about right though the current crop being no match for the oldies but I must make an exception for Fury.

Today he looked a completely different animal, devastating, after switching style under Sugar Hill. Wilder didn’t know what hit him. The old Fury said it himself - his slick feign-and-jab moves didn’t have the power to knock out Wilder. But today he looked every bit the knockout king. 6ft 9” of towering menace dancing like a butterfly, with an unorthodox defense and boxing technique that is now armed with lethal knockout power. There’s nobody quite like him in boxing history. Closest I can think of is Foreman and he’s only 6’4. Fury’s definitely up there with the best and I reckon he’ll give any former great a run for their money too.

Agree. I had an intense dislike of watching Lennox Lewis too, for similar reasons.

I understand & respect their talents & boxing ability, but I just don't find it enjoyable viewing at all.

Fury's style is a step up from the klitschko model of basically boxing by numbers, but not much of a step up, it's a very similar plan.

You may guessed from my football predictions I’m often outlandish and usually wrong.

I think he has all the talent and motivation of being 2 weight undisputed shouldn’t be an issue.
