Bournemouth v Liverpool Match Thread

And yet...he was dismissed after just a matter of DAYS on here.

Klopp has been magnificent for AOC. He's taken a raw and clearly talented but inconsistent player and developed his game more as a team player, with intelligence to boot. He was forever making the wrong decisions previously and trying to force the game, by keeping hold of the ball too long, taking long shots when better options were on, etc. He seems to cut that out more and more and he's become alot more instrumental in our attacking play. He can slot in seamlessly in midfield or one of the wide attacking berths. Fair play to him and Klopp.

I think you're erring on the generous side to Klopp but there are certainly signs of improvement. I didn't want us to sign him back in the summer, but the wave of negativity that greeted his arrival was just awful. He looks to have strengthened our squad

Protecting his mate? Oh Poor little Phil! How *dare* anyone talk about him moving to Barcelona?

It’s not as if he made a transfer request in summer then started sulking and pretending to be injured after being told he couldn’t go, is still desperate for the move to happen in January, and as such is an obvious question to raise in an interview
You're in "the media" Brendan, so you'd know better than me....

....but it looked like pretty good pr skills and a rare bit of character; loaded question, coutinho digging himself into a hole and AO-C stepped in and shut it down. Smart move. Not quite sure what you're objecting to.

Several good performances today but very impressed with Ox.
That tackle and surge forward that ended with a shot that hit the post was fantastic. He's been slowly improving and have notched up some very good performances of late.

Robertson was also excellent. Moreno should never return to the side.

I’m not objecting to anything really. Chamberlain has always been a fairly eloquent, thoughtful person, especially by footballing standards. Seems a thoroughly decent type.

I just don’t really care about Coutinho being asked obvious, relevant questions or feel the need for anyone to ‘stick up for him’

He, literally, asked for it

the complete luv-in of this thread is unbelievable to the abuse Klopp has got in the previous two games. Quite obvious we were going to win when the opposition decided not to park bus. Only concern was if our midfield had learnt anything from last season - have to say - we did not give them a chance to get back in the game. Well controlled.

Hardly a popular or even noteworthy opinion, but for 4.5M (that right?) we've bought a lot worse players than Ragnar Klavan.

He'll let us down at some point in the next month or two sure - it's what 4.5M centre backs do I guess - but you can't complain about what we've managed to eek out of him, especially over the last 7-8 weeks.

Edited: 4.5million, not 2.5M.

I think it was 4.5

Is it interesting to ask week after week the same dull shit?

Chamberlain is definitely improving.

I'm going to need to see some end result before I go took overboard though.

Currently he's a great option that is causing problems, but against better sides we need something a little more, which his peers all give us.

If he carries on this trajectory though I'd expect to see some assists & the occasional goal though. You can certainly see the effect Klopp is having on him in his play, he's making runs similar to our other players & knows where players are going to be so can pre empt runs from others as well.

He's made one or two blocks that were just brilliant, & is very good at covering back when he is beaten, making recovery tackles when necessary.

Not a long term solution, but better than he showed when he first arrived for sure.

It’s quite difficult to highlight individuals for praise, it was a pretty great collective effort.

But certainly it’s noteworthy when players who have had lots of justified criticism perform at that sort of level, so this is fair enough for the oft-maligned Klavan. He has put in a few solid displays recently.

In a similar vein, Firmino, Chamberlain and Lovren were also very very good, and Jordan Henderson was at his best too
