Well I do, I just dont agree.

The fact that you didnt mind Owen, Torres etc leaving obviously makes sense of your argument, but I just dont feel that way.
The contract has to work both ways.
 
I just think it's silly to put it in those terms.

These lads have all the power and money in the world. They exist in a completely different work environment from about 99.999% of people. No-one should be worried about how protected he is.

Fair enough if you've got a particular thing about parties honouring contracts, and that's nice as far as it goes, but that isn't the game any more, and it's not what this saga was about either.
 
For Borini to start a game for us, all of our strikers must at some point be out injured or suspended.
He's wank on the wing and won't play ahead of Markovic, Coutinho, Lallana and Sterling. Suso might even be ahead of him.

And Borini signed at 21, struggled with injury and too was played outwide, rather than through the middle. The only revisionist here Pete is you, and the "hope he gets injured" thing is a cunts trick. You're being a massive whopper.

It could go either way, depends on his attitude.

I think there will be games when Rodgers knows we should play a diamond & we'll be at least one striker short, that means he'll be on the bench, potentially for some big games, & it won't take much for him to get some minutes on the pitch either.

If he wants to stay & fight for his place then he'll show it by working like a twat in training & he'll get his chance.

If he doesn't then it'll be obvious he wants a massive to Italy again & he'll get it in January.

A few months wages at 30k is a relatively small amount for Liverpool, it's hardly the end of the world if we don't need him or he downstairs apply himself.

No he wasn't, he was a young player, being played out of position, with huge unrealistic expectations, yet was still playing decent and was showing hugely encouraging signs and working his bollocks off. This isn't revisionism on my behalf, I'm sure you can search the forum and find me gushing over him at the time.

There are similarities in the situation, just Borini has been worse and shows less signs of encouragement. I'm still happy he's staying though.

I was vocal and quick to air my frustration with regards to Henderson. I had nothing against the signing but it was a hefty enough fee (16mil - 20mil??) and because of that fee he went straight into the team. He wasn't impacting games and he didn't justify his continued inclusion in the side at the time, at the expense of Kuyt. In hindsight, he should have been allowed to build up confidence and slowly integrate himself into the side but more was expected from him from the off. Was it unrealistic to expect that? He said himself he didn't do enough in his first season.

It was frustrating as he had all the right assets to make it at the top level. Dedicated trainer, listened to the manager, high energy levels, decent technique. Confidence in his own ability and personality to allow that ability to shine was what held him back. Thankfully he grew into himself as a player and we have benefitted immensely.

I think ultimately it was Kenny's failing, he should have managed the expectations better and have integrated him the team slower, not played out of position just to get him in the team. As a £16million player, he didn't do enough that season, he crumbled a little under pressure, I think if he was managed better though, it would have been a much different story. Thankfully he's turned into a great player and is realising his potential fast, but I imagine if Rodgers had signed him back then, he'd be an even better player now.
 
Agree with nearly all of that. The Rogers bit at the end is hypothetical so can't call that.

Yeah I wanted Borini gone too but Peter's hate is a bit aggressive here like. Can't feel that strongly about it surely?
 
The sitcom with Studge and Balotelli having a crazy good time under the supervision of a confused Lambert, now has the quirky neighbor character it needs in Borini.

Hindsight is always 20:20 though. Hendo played wide right quite often for the Mackems and I saw a report in one of the papers saying that some of their fans reckoned that was his best position. It didn't work for us, but there were a variety of factors responsible for that and it wasn't an unreasonable thing to do at the time.
 
Apparently the club refused to listen to loan offers which is why he didn't move. 2 years left on his contract, any fee we do get for him in the future if he doesn't run his contract down is going to be peanuts.
 
Barring a major injury crisis, I doubt he'd make it to any matchday squad. I really think we won't hear of him again until Jan when the window reopens. And at his reported 30k/week salary, he isn't a huge drain on our finances.

I'm not quite sure what people see in Borini that they like.

On the one hand we're delighting in the pace and skill of the likes of Sterling and on the other almost regressing to finding something nice to say about someone that has neither of those things.

Every time he's played for us he's looked laborsome and struggled to get into the game. Things weren't a whole lot better at Sunderland.

Fair enough the guy might make good runs and be a willing worker but fuck me we've moved on from that shit, surely.
 
He's Bogarding us. For less money than he was offered to not Bogarde at another club.

Strange days. Needs to polish his Bogarde technique.
