he wont have the space to run into but he will have less defensive responsiblities so he can concentrate on what he is good at; attacking.

It's certainly an idea worth experimenting with. I've been surprised at some of the reluctance to try it.
Kelly is a better defender. Johnson is a better at attacking than defending, and we lack a RW with pace, skill, goals.
That's enough justification to give it go, and I hope he does a brilliant job.
