Big D vs Twitter

The democrats need to organise a patsy and have someone do a Lee Harvey. Bring in someone else tout de suite.

I'm going to get arrested for this, aren't I?

Don’t worry we’ve got Dante’s to unleash in your defence

It wad terrifying last time that Biden and Trump were the best America could produce. This time around isa living nightmare. Trump needs be in prison. Biden needs to be in care. It's all one twisty Black Mirror episode.

The Democrats can only blame themselves if and when Trump wins this.

You have to assume that the people within the Democrats who are actually running the country will have no interest in removing Biden.

If they keep him and he wins they can keep running the country without the inconvenience of having to be elected themselves.

If they ditch Biden now they might end up with someone who is capable of doing things themselves, so they will get sidelined.

If Trump wins, well, it's only one term anyway and he'll most likely be even worse than before so the Democrats will be back in four years.

How is it only one term? He can run for 2..

In the states you can only be elected to be president twice

Technically you could do more than two terms if you were a VP that took over the presidency mid-term I think, but obviously does not apply to Big D

Don't quote me but I think it does. Noone has ever done it but I think the limit is two connected terms, not two total

I'm no expert at all, but the 22nd Amendment just says that no person can be elected as president more than twice.

There have been attempts at changing it to allow non-consecutive terms but I don't think that ever succeeded. May have done though.

Gotcha. I dunno where I heard that. Maybe I dreamt it. Anyway why are all the links for posting pics greyed out?

You really think Trump will abide by the 22nd amendment? He'll try a Roosevelt.

The 22nd amendment also says you can only be elected once if you've served 2 years as president?

I believe that second part means if you serve 2 years or more of essentially someone else's presidency. So, say if Biden wins and resigns in a few months and Harris takes over, she would only be able to stand again once.

As for Trump abiding by the 22nd amendment, grudgingly yes he would have to because he wouldn't be able to be validly nominated.

FDR didn't need to ignore or override any laws because they didn't exist in his day. It was just not the done thing that presidents served more than 2 terms.

Would I put if past Trump trying to change the law? Obviously not. But I guess he would need Congress to pass that. To be honest I would doubt that even his fellow Republicans would support him on that.

I suspect that's an undesired consequence of me upgrading the forum software (to Xenforo 2.3). There are some add-ons we used in 2.2 that don't seem to work in 2.3 and I'm not competent to fix them. I'm sure Jono will get around to looking at them eventually but, like many of us, real life is more important and time consuming then fixing PHP issues on here.

The thing we are playing with here is I am capable of looking after the server (OS, DB, simple mgmt stuff) whilst Jono can do that too but can also do the 'visual' side of stuff (PHP code) which I can't. I'm a contractor and so get gaps in time when I'm free but they rarely line up with Jono. Hence I pushed through the upgrade when I had spare time (I'm now back in contract) but Jono hasn't had a similar gap to look at the consequences.

TLDR I'm sorry - my fault

I think if you post and then edit they appear but please let me know

Supreme Court just announced he is 'partially' immune from prosecution - the distinction being official acts as president and unofficial

...which as I understand it doesn't automatically stop the current Court action against him. The lower Court has still to make its decision but must now do so in the light of the principle laid down by the Supreme Court.

He already gets treated differently anyway, it's no surprise. One example is he was allowed to have a lawyer present when he had his online meeting with the probation officer.

Obviously Trump is no exception, rich and powerful people always get extras that the rest of us don't. I'm fed up with this planet.

The clarifications I saw block all bar the Georgia case (“finding ballots”)

On one hand it means he'll be unable to go after Biden.

On the other hand it'll mean he'll try everything to get a 3rd term or more. Knowing as an official act, he's got immunity

No way, he’ll be 82 then and you can’t run for president aged 82 ……

Fuck me. I can't believe that John McEntee is still about. I take this a bit personally as he has the same surname as I do...
