GK: Clemence (once I'd have nominated Reina, but not now).
RB: Neal for longevity, Babbel for all-round ability, Rob Jones probably the best out-and-out defender of them all. Personal choice would be Babbel but this may well be the hardest position of all to agree on.
CB: Lawrenson - sorry, you just can't break that combo up. Big Sami would be on the bench but not in the first eleven.
CB: Hansen - 'nuff said.
LB: Nicol - has to be in there somewhere, played on the left almost as often as on the right and there's a plethora of talent over on that side.
RM: Callaghan - possibly the most consistent Liverpool player I've ever seen
CM: Gerrard - good enough to play anywhere, but I'd ALWAYS start him at centre mid to spread his influence as widely as poss.
CM: Souness (capt.) - hard as nails, skill to match and the best skipper this club has ever had, bar none.
LM: Barnes - no contest.
FW: Dalglish - simply the best ever. BTW he has to play up front, not deeper, where he was only half the player.
FW: Rush - again, a combo you cannot break.
Hughes wouldn't get in my side - fine player, maybe the best all-rounder we've had but just not quite ahead of these other specialists. He'd be alongside Pepe, Sami, Suarez, Beardo, Robbie Fowler, Keegan, Ray Kennedy and Alec Lindsay on the bench.
