Gardaí in Carlow have charged a man in connection with an attempt to collect a dead man's pension in the town last week.
The 66-year-old man was brought to the post office on Staplestown Road last Friday morning by two men, who left him there after staff became concerned for his welfare.
He was subsequently found to have died that morning and his body was removed from the scene.
Earlier, a man had allegedly tried to collect his pension, but was told the recipient had to be present.
Gardaí began a criminal investigation and two men in their 30s were arrested on suspicion of deception.
They were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act in separate garda stations.
One of the men was released last night. The other man was charged and is due before Kilkenny District Court this morning.
