Tottenham winger David Bentley will have a medical at Birmingham over the weekend prior to signing on loan for the remainder of the season.

Spurs paid £15m for former Arsenal trainee Bentley when he signed from Blackburn in July 2008.

But the 26-year-old has slipped out of favour and has made just three first-team appearances this season.

"David Bentley will go on loan because he wants to play," said Spurs boss Harry Redknapp earlier on Friday.

"He is frustrated at the moment."

Bentley could prove to be a ready-made replacement for Sebastian Larsson, who is out of contract in the summer and has been linked with Newcastle.

Peterborough-born Bentley has won seven England caps and is best known at Tottenham for a spectacular goal at Arsenal during a 4-4 draw.

But Redknapp is confident that veteran winger David Beckham will join the club on loan from US Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy.


Forgot he was only 26.. Definitely a handy player who can play anywhere across the midfield.. Can't be too much worse than what we've got at the moment and could be a shrewd loan signing..

That said.. He's been wank at spurs and the £15million they paid for him was outrageous.. As was the £20mill they got got Santa..

He's was a decent player. I liked him, and I wouldn't have minded him on loan at all.

LOL George, I was just about to mention the posing and state that his ability doesn't match his looks.
 
So, if he follows historical trends then he'll move from North London to Brum, spend a year of wacking aimless crosses in from the right wing which will then earn him a transfer to us for a sackload of cash.
 
I honestly don't know what it is with this fucker but every few months someone seems to post a thread asking who wants him.......He's shit, end of!
