Babel's far from my favourite player and he deserved the stick he got for Spurs, because it was a case of 'same old, same old', but there's this horrible sensation emanating from the stands (and the forums) at present.

The team are in a slump, they look short of moral and togetherness, and the usual suspects like Lucas, Babel and Voronin are baring the brunt of it, when in reality if the team was playing better they might contribute better.

I'm not excusing their below standard displays, but Lucas in particular contributed better last season when the team and it's best players were performing better. Everyone knows it's easier to perform in a team with confidence.

The sides backbone of Reina, Masher, Gerrard and Torres needs to pull this one together. Yes, everyone has to do their bit, but at times like this you need your leaders to standup and inspire and encourage the others.

It doesn't look like we've got much transfer action on the cards so it's imperative we show some team spirit, fast.

The last thing we need is this rot setting in.

The whole club and the fans need to be one over this. Everyone needs to step it up and show some intelligence, quality and composure, on and off the pitch.

YNWA.

well said that man. As much as everyone has to pitch in some players just are more important than others. If they up their game, it will lift the rest of the team.

Sowwy.

The thing with young players is they need games, but they also need to see success, they need the right games, and they need a team that can carry them a bit to keep the pressure off. Man U have done a good job with this sort of thing, it breeds confidence. Lucas right now is in the worst sort of situation, and he seems to have the right temperament for it.

I thought it wasn't right that Lucas got booed, and I don't think he's a horrible player, but he's in a bind right now in terms of expectations.

There are personnel reasons for our quality right now, but given what we've got, we are still underperforming, and you are quite right in that it's all about team spirit getting out of that.

Well said Mark.

We've got an almost ideal next 4 games to help build up the confidence, where as 4 of the 5 other top sides have very tricky fixtures indeed. Like you said we just need to stick together (with our key players performing), and we could be right in the mix in a months time.

No worries Farky, it wasn't really about your post, he deserves most of the criticism he gets post match, but when he's on the pitch he should be encouraged. Generally all that was heard around the ground on Monday whenever he or Lucas touched the ball was groans.

We had all this with Biscan (and others), even when he came on and did well, he still bore the brunt of it.
