Leave Villa for City, hmm.

It's a 1 step forwards, two steps back jobby.

What a divvy. What happened to playing CL football before he's too old.

Anyway, I'm glad, I hope he signs at least it will (hopefully) put an end to the 'Alonso leaving' saga.

so its javi, Xabi or bust.
Come on Rafa's son, Rafa loves you.

Eh...say what?

He's in talks with City.
[/quote]

If he goes there after all his chat about CL football, I will be shocked, amazed and disgusted.

However, after the fucking about last summer, I don't blame him for having talks with Arsenal, City or whoever, just in case.

Having talks is normal isn't it?

Whoa whoa whoa, Villa accepting a probable *big money* bid from Citeh and giving Barry permission to talk to Citeh doesn't make him a mercenary, I'm sure Citeh were *in talks* with Kaka too, but he never actually wanted to go there and turned them down.

As its unlikely he'll sign a new contract, Villa's best hope is to get a bidding war started on him, and who better for them to begin it than Citeh. Him being licensed to speak to them doesn't mean he wants to go there.

lets just wait and see what happens. if that happens then it's only about money for him and it'll be for the best that we dont sign him

at least it'll force him to tell us what he wants

What's the problem with him doing that?

None of the big clubs obviously want him, and he has a better chance of playing champions league football at city than villa over the next few years.

He could have put in a transfer request last summer to come to us, but never. So it seems money is high on his priorities.

I think he probably feels he can't stay at Villa and has to move on, even if it is to a club like City or Spurs.

In fairness, I do think had their best shot at breaking through this season and blew it.

The rumour is that Man City has offered the sum (possibly including a part exchange deal) we were looking for from you lot last summer. He won't be going cheap now.

that's only if Villa can convince him to join Man City 😀

no one with any sense will match that.

Is he 28? So champs league when he's 30-31 if he's lucky? The muppet. Good riddance.

Villa really fucked him over last year by refusing to sell for an acceptable price but I also think Barry didn't force it enough.

no decent player in their right mind would now sign a long term contract with Aston Villa because of their unreasonable antics last summer and threats to players that they can only leave if they run down their contracts

Damn! The masterplan is exposed 🙂

This kinda blows a big gaping hole into the SCM Boardroom Inner Sactuary We know What's Going On Behind The Scenes And We're Gonna Give Rafa An Online Raping For It doesn't it?

What with Rafa repeating ad nauseum that he wants Alonso to stay, and Barry being chatted up by some Arabs at Citeh, it's not really been a good start to the summer for the boys.

Fire away...

I'd rather we keep Xabi anyway.

Seems Citeh mean business tho, with Tevez and Barry.

Is Tevez to Citeh confirmed now?

Haven't seen anything new on that one.

Barry, his agent, Lerner and O'Neill were all in agreement as to the figure Barry was going to cost last summer. Liverpool's highest bid didn't come close, even if Barry had put in a transfer request.

We've offered him a new contract at £80k a week and a lucrative testimonial year, if another club signs him they will have to pay a big transfer fee and £100k a week to better it.

Just edited a bit ... I guess at least Citeh could perhaps give him that next year.

Rosco's been the only one using this info/gossip to batter Rafa, no?

it's delusional though, he is worth what others are willing to pay Liverpool were willing to go close to that valuation but not match or exceed it. he was really fucked over by O'Neill that summer and I think he knows it. Ambitious players will not go to Villa in case O'Neill does the same thing and refuses to release them if a club like Liverpool (or United) come in for them, because usually it won't happen again and there are many clubs and managers who are more reasonable for these players to go to.

So Villa will end up with players who are near the end of their careers and willing to make the committment like Heskey.

Given the choreographed public statements from Barry, Gerrard and Benitez last summer, do you not think he will feel he was fucked over by H&G not matching (or getting close to) the value that was agreed with his agent and O'Neill?
