Pennant is the slowest fast player I've ever seen.

Babel seems pretty fast to me, but it takes him too long to get going. If a football pitch was a mile long, he might be ok.

Pennant wasn't slow. He wasn't the fastest, but he certainly wasn't slow, unless your speed gage is the same one Brendan uses. 😉

So Ajax was a smokescreen.
Discussing terms does not means Babel will go. He discussed terms with at least one other PL team if I remember correctly but he turned it down after a heli ride. One of his terms must be he must be able to twich and rap? Lol

FFS there seem to be more sentimentalists than I could ever give credit for on here.
The thing that really annoys me is that Brum were offering £10m for the useless cunt in the summer.

Hodgson wanted to play him as a striker, either alongside or as a replacement for Torres. Pity the dithering either old fool did neither.

"I'm not that disappointed not to bring in another striker because I don't think there was a great choice of centre-forwards out there for any of the teams," said Hodgson.

"We didn't see much movement in terms of strikers between the Premier League clubs because I think there are a lot of clubs chasing a very particular type of player. It was only after the sale of Mascherano that it would have been possible for me to have the money available to do a transfer at a high enough level.

"The shortage of time bothered me and I would have been concerned we were jumping into something without researching it fully. Quite frankly I didn't see the players out there that really excited me to spend the amount of money those players cost. I would prefer to put my weight behind David Ngog and Ryan Babel - who has never been given a proper chance at centre-forward - because we have Torres and good players who can play behind a lone striker.

"I will be using these players in some of the games in order to give Fernando the rest he needs and it will be up to them to prove to me there is no need for us to look further than those to players as Fernando Torres' competitors because they are perfectly good enough to do the job.

"They will get their chances and we will see if they take them but I am hoping between now and Christmas we will have ample quality and possibilities to see us through that period."

In hindsight he was a fucking ace manager wasn't he? He knew Masch was leaving about 3 weeks before the window close, but didn't research (a) a replacement or (b) a striker to use the money on. He then moaned about it to the press, bought Poulsen and Konchesky for about £10m combined (obviously the research worked there you melted waxwork faced fuckwit) and gave H&G £7m.

ARRRRGGGHHH, everytime I re-read it I want to cave his head in with a spade! [/quote]He wouldnt sign a player unless he had personally seen him play at least twice.

I've sent Ryan a lovely message on Facebook expressing our distress at him leaving.
I'll let you all know his reply.
