As good, if not better, than Hazard or Sanchez.

That Suarez guy is really good, we'd never get him..

i was surprised, though, that we had a clear run at suarez.

Yes.

He was supposed to be the next Ronaldinho or something but I haven't heard much of him since he moved to Shaktar. How's he doing there?

I recall Mancs decided against signing him because of attitude and off the field problems so that would be a worry but it would be all the sweeter if he'd be a star for us.

He was superb last season for them mate. 8 goals in the latter half of the season, and some excellent performances in the Europa League, especially against Hodgson's Fulham. He's been pretty decent in Shakhtar's CL run this season as well (2 goals, 3 assists in 6 games) scoring a belter against Roma in the first leg. He's a huge talent and you're right, Ferguson was seriously interested (went on to call him the biggest talent in South America) but I think they just missed out on him somehow. This is the first I'm hearing of his off-field problems though. Every report I've read is of him being extremely level-headed. In fact, I remember reading an interview where he said he wanted to avoid being like Robinho (or something to that effect).

Shakhtar signed him for €6 million from Gremio last January though as Akakabooto says, the Mancs were one of the favourites to land him. Hasn't been too much speculation around him recently, which is a good thing I guess. But given his talent, and their CL run, I doubt Shakhtar will let him go for cheap. Nothing less than £12-15 million. And if he puts in a couple of stellar performances in their upcoming CL games, I have no doubt his price will skyrocket.

Rumours on another site that Villa have offered us Young for 12 mill £, as he won't be signing a new contract this summer.

Anyone heard anything?

I think this could have gone into a new thread.

What wrong Sulkflower? Don't think Liverpool can attract expensive young talent. Not even for a chance to play under Kenny Daglish with talents such as Suarez, Gerrard, Meireles and Carroll on a revitalized and ever improving team that can already win the tough games. Or is the money at hand the issue, even though it is known that FSG were planning on buying Suarez before Torres made a transfer request and that they were able to pay 300 million cash for Liverpool and agree to pay 300 million US over 7 years to sign premier talent for their baseball franchise. You're stuck in the past. Enjoy the dawn, night is over and The Lying Rag is rising. And the slower it is the better cause it'll be up there for longer.

Cheers. Although all the pages I can find say he only scored 5 last season? The youtube clip wasn't really that impressive I thought. Also Ukrainian league has only a couple of strong teams so I'm still a bit suspicious about him.

But you have no problems with the douglas costa videos staying?

I reckon rumours of ashley young not signing a new deal should probably go in an 'ashley young' thread.....oh wait!

Ashley Young fears he is becoming a scapegoat for Aston Villa's slide down the Premier League.

Villa fans have turned on boss Gerard Houllier with the side just one point off the drop zone.

But England international Young, 25, now captain under Houllier, has also come in for flak.

The star has been accused of playing for a move rather than the team with Manchester United and Liverpool chasing him.

He also missed a crucial penalty in a 3-2 defeat at Bolton earlier this month when new striker Darren Bent wanted to take it.

And fans turned on attacking ace Young in a 1-0 home defeat to Wolves.

Young was barracked by fans near the touchline and glared at them leaving the field at Villa Park.

Now a poll this week on the Vital Villa website shows 62 per cent of fans polled expect Young to leave this summer.

And an astonishing 21 per cent claimed they didn't even care whether the ace stayed or left.

Costa is a huge talent, but in my opinion he is not ready for the intensity of the Premier League yet. The usual complaint about him is that he drifts in and out of matches and generally lacks consistency. If a Premier League team buys him, they have to be prepared to be patient, give him a few seasons to develop and mature, sort of like Ronaldo at ManU. Also, he would probably need a few portugese-speaking teammates to truly settle. He feels comfortable at Schakhtar precisely because they have a bunch of Brazilians, some young and some experienced, like Eduardo.
