Arsenal in new Liverpool bid this January

No deal. He may not be perfect but there is not a lot of class around in the full back world.

Nathan Clyne has looked decent for Southampton the few times I have seen him play

If we dont move on older players then the younger ones stagnate rather than developing while waiting for their chance to get first team minutes. Kelly will be 24 by the start of next season, Flanagan 21 and McLaughlin 19. If Johnson stays then Kelly would be 25 still waiting for his chance in the first team, there is no point producing good young players if you are not willing to give them a chance and spend a fortune on wages and transfers for players in the same position.

Could any of them really be worse than Cissokho?

I also forgot about Robinson who is also a young right back, for some reason we seem to be incredibly well stocked with young right backs
What has Kelly done to even say he could be a RB to replace Johnson, it seems like people have been saying this for a while yet see no evidence. Johnson has not got in the way Kelly, Kelly needs to get fit and proove he can play first. Just because they are young doesn't make them any good, I have yet to see a RB coming through who justifies letting Johnson go anytime soon.

I think we will see FSG want to get rid of Glen Jo due to his huge wages, but January is not the time to do that unless we get an offer of £12m plus IMO. We don't want to be rushed into a Cissokho style replacement and I'm not sure whether Kelly is ready to become our first choice RB.

We are title contenders. The answer to anyone trying to buy our first team players in January is NO*, and that's even before anyone has asked.

(*Except Aspas)

If we need/want to sell, then we should try to do it in the summer window, not in January. He may not have impressed me this season but we could do with more stability at the back for the rest of the season, injuries permitting.

Can I be controversialish. Sell.

He was the one weak link yesterday. Every bit of danger came down our right and was mainly because Glen was pretty lazy and out of position. If we can get an RB who can defend and hold his postion (Flanagan) I'd be ecstatic. We don't need goals from RB....

Can see Luke Shaw going for nearer 30 mill than 20, Man City could do with a left back, same with Chelsea with Cole getting on, Shaw is a Chelsea fan aswell.

Clyne is a good shout.

I said this before the game yesterday. It was mentioned a few times how worried we should be about Flanno against Walker/Lennon or whoever else, but he was assured, didn't dive in, held his position well and supported when he felt he wouldn't expose us to the counter attack.

Like I said, attacks have come down our right handside for a while now but no one seems to think it's an issue because of how good Johnson is on the ball. Of course it's an issue, it's a fucking hindrance.

That said, as Fox pointed out, there's not alot of talent around at fullback, so..

Shaw will go to Chelsea imho

I cant think of any right backs that I would want us to sign. Hows that Ajax right back?
Seems pacey and decent.

i'm a massive fan, but this season he seems to be dipping...however, we would be insane to sell when we are so well settled and it is unclear there is a better defender around to replace. next summer we may want to consider strenghening this area.
