Arsenal in new Liverpool bid this January

Whoops. Tbh, for a team which is meant to rely on there full backs so, I really don't rate their fullbacks, it's a shame they're finally focussing on the areas they need to improve, not buying another attacking midfielder.

Sagna doesnt seem to be signing a new contract and Jenkinson is shite.

We shouldnt sell to them mind

It's hard to fathom what sort of price he'd command.

It's probably not going to be one that will tempt us to sell him

Probably not, but a local rival coming in for him is the only scenario that would make the debate interesting.

I can't see us selling regardless given the fact that we've already got problems at LB. Perhaps if they come back in for him in the summer.

We should keep him. He's a bad defender but his overall contribution to the team is positive.
He's a cool old head and we need such with this youthful team.

Tough call, anything in the region of 10 million would be a no brainer. Between Toure Kelly Wisdom Flanagan McLaughlin we should have right back pretty much covered for the next few years. But they wont offer that much given his age and remaining contract, I like Johnson alot but he just hasnt learned from his mistakes. Id happily keep him til the summer unless stupid money is involved.

He doesnt seem like the sort of player Wenger would sign though so Im assuming this is aimed at forcing Sagna to sign a new deal

Covered but none of the players you mentioned are good enough to replace Johnson at the moment.
If we sell Johnson we need to find a replacement.

Was gonna say the same thing. That list contains three centre-backs, one youth player that is still trying to prove his worth in the first side and another youth player that hasn't gotten anywhere near the first team just yet.

I watched Barca on Saturday and although Montoya is a decent player, a steady eddie type, their play often demands more. He was put through three or four times and failed to square it properly - Alves would've seen them win that game comfortably.

What's it got to do with us? We are the same in that we want width from our fullbacks - at least on one side if not both!

I like Johnson, and our style of play means that we rely heavily on our fullbacks to provide the width. Johnson provides the width but in recent seasons his end product has been meh. Torn on this.

Story arose prob cos of this:

SAGNA NOT READY TO COMMITAfter being part of defence that has just conceded six goals, one might thing that Bacary Sagna would be rather wise to snap up Arsenal's offer of £70,000 a week, but the Frenchman has made it clear he might well be looking for alternative options.

The Daily Mirror run with quotes from Sagna that attack Arsenal for selling their best players, before admitting that whilst negotiations are ongoing, he could still leave in the January window.

"I was upset, angry when players left. I would love to win trophies with this club, it's a club I love so much but something is missing.

"I've still got six months on my contract with Arsenal. We are in negotiations. It's an option to go somewhere in January but I always had a good relationship with Arsenal."

Sagna joined the club in 2007, making almost 200 Premier League appearances.

If we dont move on older players then the younger ones stagnate rather than developing while waiting for their chance to get first team minutes. Kelly will be 24 by the start of next season, Flanagan 21 and McLaughlin 19. If Johnson stays then Kelly would be 25 still waiting for his chance in the first team, there is no point producing good young players if you are not willing to give them a chance and spend a fortune on wages and transfers for players in the same position.

Could any of them really be worse than Cissokho?

I also forgot about Robinson who is also a young right back, for some reason we seem to be incredibly well stocked with young right backs

If we could get a better player in for cheaper wages (What is he on now?) i'd be all over the idea. Getting rid of Englands no1 RB for a team that is supposedly better than us seems ridiculous though
