+ carroll and suarez are undoubtedly good players, who should complement each other
+ 2 young (perfect ages, really) robust-looking strikers exchanged for one fragile probably past-his-best one
+ rumours resurfacing of interest in hazard. yes fucking please
++ FSG really showed their ambition imo. no proof yet, but i really believe they'll back us in the summer to give us a shot at the title

- fucking ridiculous fee for carroll, honestly. £10m over the odds, minimum
- sad how torres has turned out for us. but tbh i'm yearning for the player of 07/08, and i think he's gone forever
- ideally 1 or 2 other positions would have been sorted as well. centre-half perhaps 1st priority for summer now, slightly surprised no activity there at all this time, need seems obvious.

Not so sure about the summer outlay, but agrre with all the rest.

So many are talking about how irrelevant the transfer fee was, but I simply cant agree.

35 million might have been able to fill 2 positions, maybe Benzema and Defour?

I have had a few bottles of London Pride and I am well through a botlle of Fullers IPA so I am getting happier

Happy enough. Yeh we still have holes but Kenny will be working to put those right

Out - Torres. Yep, star quality but a prize cunt
Out - Babel - Not arsed in the slightest because he was fucking hopeless
Out - Konchesky - Worse than Babel

In - Suarez - World Class Star Quality - the lad will do it
In - Carroll - Yeh jury is out but potential beast of a player who will frighten the life out of defenders.

we have addressed an issue that we were always going to have to in the summer , we did it quickly and decisively . Carroll is 22 strong as an ox and has an eye for goal. He could lead our line for a long time to come. He and Suarez are, on paper, made for each other. If we had got Adam and consigned Lucas to the bench it would have been ideal.
Regards

Given that we announced the Carroll signing first, it also means that for the first time since Collymore was here we were the british transfer fee record holders.

BOOYAAAA.

And with these signings, we've kinda fortified our options up front. That'll allow us the entire summer to work on improving the flanks and possibly defence too. Bring on the next transfer window!

Ha nights Sunny. I bet you'll have sweet dreams. ;D

Not happy yet! Until both Suarez and Carroll prove to be worth what we spent on them. Concern is more my feeling now rather than elation.

Hope I am wrong

Benzema would not want to come to a club with no CL...

I think the huge gamble that Kenny took on Andy will swing one way or the other. If he is a flop Kenny will walk. If he a sensation Kenny stays.

Happy we've shown ambition, happy we'll be backed by the new owners. Happy we've got a bright future.

We've made the best of a bad window. Only time will tell if Carroll and Suarez will do the job, but having a legendary striker as manager makes me feel confident they will bed in. I loved Rafa, but strikers always went to shit under him. With Kenny, I feel confident he'll bring out their best. We'll see...

Great Clubs always go on to greater things when they lose players like El Judas. Small clubs don't/ which is why we'll be fine. If we don't turn the corner this window, we will in the next. FSG have shown that.

Things are looking brighter, but I still have that feeling like my ex girlfriend told me she fancies another fella...

Well, trying to be happy.

I'm bloody exhausted and was as big an emotional rollercoaster as the ownership - more so in fact cause I always felt that NESV were a professional enough outfit to have it covered.

Happy as punch about Suarez and loved the effort to bring in Adam and Young. Having said that the reality is, as already said, we overpaid massively for a "potentially" great, old fashioned striker. Seriously - we overpaid by a margin that bought in Xabi a few years ago. On top of that we let go of one of our best ever strikers - and sold him to a club we hate with a vengeance. Not only that I think we've given them the amunition to win the CL (assuming he's eligible).

So am I happy? No.

Am I happy with the actions of the owners? Very. They didn't make the problem with Nandough, did their best to prevent it and then solved it as well as was possible given a 48 hour opportunity.

In the back of my mind I do think we have the potential for one of the best strike partnerships in the epl. I can't shake the feeling that with Young or a very good winger we could have made a real charge for Europe. As it is I don't think these two are going to be able to do it. I hope to be proven wrong though.

isn't kenny jointly responsible, at most, for recruitment, along with comolli? don't know why it's assumed that this is his signing.

T0rres going was not really in our hands. So i'm going to forget about that. You can't really sugar quote that....he was some player, when he bothered. But lately, he hardly ever bothered.

I'm extremely happy with Carroll and Suarez coming in, and i think it is very good scouting. Credit where it is due. Those are hardly names dug up from obscurity, but we had several options out there, and Kenny and team have managed to get their number one targets. In football terms, it's hard not to be pleased about this. I can't give a shit about how much we actually paid for these two. They are two quality forwards. We desperately needed strengthening in this area and we got our number one targets. We didn't mess around.

I'm still displeased about not strengthening other weaknesses in the Squad. Wingers, LB and DM were all a requirement. Charlie Adam would have softened this blow. While he is not a DM, he is a deep-lying play maker, and we had previously seen that Gerrard partners very well with Xabi in a 4-4-2. But now it remains a weakness that needs to be addressed in the summer.

But we have cut a lot of fat in this transfer window. El Cunt' wage accounts for the two new incomer's wages. We have further got rid of Babel and Konchesky. That's one half of the task. Now we need to have a good summer transfer window.

We still have some more dead wood to clear in Poulsen, Lucas, Jovanovic, Aquilani, Kyrgiakos and Skrtel.

i'm happy that we're all in decent moods, no tears have been shed for gayboy and the sales of sleeping tablets and rope are normal. I know Carroll wasn't many peoples 1st, 2nd or 3rd choice - but....

we spent some money and the owners/staff pulled the club potentially very depressing scenario - we could be like newcastle, losing our major goalscorer with no replacement and little to look forward to until the summer

even seeing Ladyboy in blue isn't so bad now, the shite he's talking make me glad we got rid

Kenny had a dig I just realized, at Torres today..

"The most important thing is the club. More important and bigger than any individual, no matter who has been through it previously and who will in the future.

"I will never forget that and anyone who does is being a wee bit stupid and irresponsible."

Agreed. And I think we've got cause to be optimistic by how FSG responded to the shenanigans over the weekend. As has been mentioned by many on here, as soon as we realized that Torres was going and we'd be back to square one with only 1 striker, there was no hesitation in splashing big money to fill in the gap. And I might be clutching at straws a little but here's what John Henry's missus tweeted:

The record 2011 January Transfer Window closes and the rebuilding of LFC progresses on.

I suspect the use of the word "rebuilding" means that FSG intends to keep adding to the squad. Onwards and upwards!

The Torres situation is fucking horrible, but is completely out of our hands.

I'm also a little concerned about Carroll feeling he was forced to come to us.

However, on the part of the club - excellent work, you did the best you could under the circumstances, and it bodes well for the future that we can be a force in the transfer market.

Young and Adam would have been great additions, but maybe we can sign them in the summer.

At least El Cunt is gone now, and we can get on with focuussing on building a side.

I'm still over the moon Dalglish is the manager, he's proving the faithful correct, signing good players and playing pass and move football.

Some of these positives make me happier than El Cunt ever did, and whilst he'll probably do well at Chelsea, I'm more concerned about us and that things are clearly moving in the right direction.

It would of been nice to see Adam whipping those corners in for Carroll, or a winger who can cross the ball coming in.

As it stands we have lost the best CF in world football, but replaced him with 2 very good players.

It is not too bad.

There's two schools of thought.

There's one which shows we've paid well over the odds for a striker who has only played 20 Premier League games, who has loads of off the field issues, who possibly doesn't want to be at Liverpool, and could cause a lot of trouble.

The other is we've got a partnership which will produce more than Torres and Babel, so in that sense it's a positive move.

I don't know which I subscribe to at the moment, so I'm going to sit on the fence.

We're going to have 2 players who are less injury prone than Torres.

We're going to stop relying on one striker to get the goals.

We are now more adaptable in terms of tactics.

N'gog will now be 3rd choice.

We overpaid for Carroll, but I am happy at the decisiveness with which the owners have acted. They could have put the money in the bank and said we will release the funds once the permanent manager is appointed in the summer. They have backed the King. I feel we now have a squad which can achieve 6th or higher at the end of the season and hopefully win the Europa League. That should give us a good platform to build on for the future.

In some way it is good that we have got in the replacements for El Cunt in this window itself. It would have been a tough ask to buy new strikers, midfielders and a center back in the summer.

Torres had been so frustrating to watch the last two seasons, yet it did hurt like a motherfucker him wanting to leave. Today it feels "ok". Still wondering how commited Torres were and still wondering what the fuck went wrong...but, in a way, m happy that I don´t have to see his shit attitude in red no more.

I was happy on Friday when it became clear the Suarez deal was going to be completed. Then the whole El Cunt to Chelsea thing kicked off and that put an end to any happiness.

I don't care that he was always going to leave or that he's proven to be a massive cunt at the end of the day, I'm still gutted that we've lost a top top player - one of the best strikers we've ever had - and to a team we despise on top of it all.

And I feel like we've been forced into massively overspending on a player few seem genuinely convinced about just so we can say we got a replacement in. I still think we were mad to do all this in January.

Maybe we did get El Cunt's best years, maybe Carroll will somehow justify his laughable fee... but in the meantime I can't help feeling deflated by it all. At least when Alonso and Masher left, we weren't left in a position of knowing we'd be stuck watching them playing for another team in the same league rubbing our noses in it.

I am happy with what we got in. Excited even.

But whenever i see Torres holding that Chelsea shirt up, with a beaming smile, and chatting shit about how's he joined a big club, it makes me want to weep.

I just hope Suarez and Carroll hit the ground running, so this unease i feel disapeers.

I think we made what we could of a (late) difficult situation. Though we overpaid dramatically for Carroll and it's disappointing we didn't get a midfielder in.
