Aquilani agent rebuffs Juventus link
Alberto Aquilani's agent has dismissed talk the Liverpool midfielder could return to Serie A with Juventus during the January transfer window.
The Italian arrived as a £20million replacement for Xabi Alonso, who left for Real Madrid, from Roma last summer but has failed to live up to expectations at Anfield.

Aquilani has made just six Premier League appearances after struggling for fitness and form, and was singled out for criticism after the Reds' shock FA Cup exit to Reading this month.

Last January manager Rafa Benitez sold flop Robbie Keane back to Tottenham with a heavy loss after just half a season at the club, prompting many to suggest he is ready to give Aquilani the same treatment.

However, the player's agent Franco Zavaglia is baffled by the speculation, despite reported interest from the Turin giants.

"There aren't possibilities that Aquilani will go back to Italy in January," Zavaglia told laroma24.it.

"The boy has started playing with some continuity only in recent weeks. So that hypothesis is really far from reality."

The 25-year-old has his work cut out if he is to make Marcello Lippi's Italy World Cup squad should he fail to up his game at Liverpool, fuelling further speculation of a possible loan deal back to Seria A.

Zavaglia again dismissed such claims: "On loan? This is fantasy football. Aquilani is happy at Liverpool and the adventure has not the slightest possibility of changing."

Singled out for critiscism? I think they've got the wrong straggly haired midfielder.

I like Aqua-face. I understand why he got singled out against Reading without agreeing with it. He tried a few balls that didn't come off and played some sloppy balls which put us under pressure. But he tried to be offence minded and played the ball forward, it didn't always come off, on some occasions simply because his team mates didn't anticipate what he was going to try, but you'd hope that would come with time. I thought he was our best player against Reading, he was the one who was always looking to play a forward ball and to take a few chances.

But I saw enough to be excited by him. I like how he moved off the ball, the way he's constantly looking around off the ball and is aware of where his team mates and opposition players are and tried to create space for himself. The way he positions himself in the middle of the park and there to receive the ball back, which is essential to us retaining possession of the ball, something we've desperately struggled with all season.

I think to see the best of him he needs to be paired up with an out and out DM, so he has the freedom to be further up and so there's someone to sweep up behind him when his Hollywood balls don't come off. He and Mascher would make the perfect pair if they are afforded the opportunity.
