everyone wants this player

shame no one actually wants him

It's funny really. The fans are unanimously in favour of him staying but somehow this message hasn't reached the management in the club, except John Henry on twitter.
I'm not saying that we can affect transfers but I wonder if Aquaman knows that he's wanted by the fans.
When push comes to shove the decision is his to make.

Well, you don't know what I want, but at least you understand your hyperbole is rather shaky.

Support for Aquilani is not 100%.

OK, 95% of the fans want him to stay. That's my estimate after reading the opinions of Rawk and Scm users only.

Fiorentina just today co-signed Andrea Lazzari from Cagliari. He plays CM, AM, is an under 21 International for Italy, and is a good prospect in Italy. Milan chased him as well as Inter

The signing is confirmed, so what impact does this have on Aquilani

I think people are confusing hope/expectation/promise/potential with reality when it comes to Aquifanny.

The reality consists of a game against Portsmouth. And that's it. Everything else is hope/expectation/promise/potential.
[/quote]

What nonsense. There were a number of games where he just made the whole front unit tick, esp. that we run of Uefa games (yes, I know, Europe isn't the PL).

That's his thing.

Aquilani is still with us because we can't get rid of him. That's why, not cos we actually want him.

It's like when you buy a ridiculously expensive shirt, never wear it, stick it on eBay, and nobody fucking buys the thing. You just look at it wondering a) why you bought it in the first place, b) it's too expensive to just give away for free, and c) should I actually try it on again to remind myself of how underwhelming the fucking thing is?

Many of us just really want him to do well here Ryan. I like him, I love his give and go style of play and his movement. He is a classy player. Yep, he has shown moments of being an absolute pussy but I would love him to be given a go now that he's fit.

If he fails then so be it.

Spot on.

I don't doubt his ability, I doubt that he wants to play in England, that he's up for the kicking he'll receive week in week out, and that he'll stay fit for more than a handful of matches. People fawning over him the way some are after a couple of meaningless friendlies against a Chinese team and Malaysia is beyond embarrassing.

There's a difference between wanting him to do well, and claiming him to be only inferior to Gerrard when it comes to midfield options, and being Paul Scholes-esque when it comes to getting into the box Dave. Let's remember here: he's with us because we cannot actually get rid of him. That's it.

I don't care if some people think I'm being harsh or a troll, at least I'm not typing a load of imaginative bollocks.

Oh i'll agree some are going waaay OTT Ryan. Others like me genuinely want him to do well and hope he can stay and perform for us. I'm not 100% sure he can but i'd like us to test it out.

I could never not want a Liverpool player to do well at Liverpool but I am close to 100% sure that Aquilani well never be the player that posters think he is in a Liverpool shirt.
In normal circumstances I couldn't care less if he stayed or went and would be happy to give him a chance to see if he can resurrect his career.
But right now him staying seems to be holding us up bringing in another player which would hopefully make our squad more balanced and complete and therefore I would really prefer that he went in these circumstances

Aquilani is a top class player with a superb range of passing, skill and vision. By the end of his first season here when he actually got fit and getting used to a brand new league, he was one of our best players. In terms of minutes played he had more assists than anyone in the league. No he's not 'hard' neither is Luka Modric or Samir Nasri, or any Barcelona midfielder but he can pick a pass and unlock a defence better than anyone in our squad.

If it was 'only Malaysia' why didn't any other of our midfielders show such vision and range of passing?

Post of the thread. That's a fine stat there, not 'imaginative bollocks'.

It is ironic that Ryan is so like Brendan in his response to players. He decides he likes/ doesn't like them and won't be moved. Any evidence produced to the contrary argument is not read with an open mind, but seen as a view to be aggressively countered.

We cant get rid of him because your Rafa idol bought him for £20M and gave him a 5 or 6 years contract and our owners want to recoup a bit of that fee.
Rightly so. Obviously not all managers are as mad as Rafa and dont want to pay more than £10M for an injury prone player.

We should just keep him as a back up midfielder, he could be useful at times.
Lets sell Lucas and loan Spearing out. With Gerrard, Meireles, Aquilani, Henderson and Shelvey we've got enough solutions .

According to Corriero Dello Sport he's willing to take a pay cut to join Fiorentina. They also say he's ready to sign for 5 years, even though other reports say its a loan deal.

Hope to God we sell him and not make another loan agreement.

I said he made similar runs to Paul Scholes, arriving into the box late for a goal scoring opportunity instead of getting in their early like Meireles did for us alot last year. I didn't say he was as good as him, or he scored goals like him or any thing you just blew it out of proportion to suit your argument.

I've been thinking this more and more recently. He's been filling the holier than thou, I can't be wrong or questioned void left by Brendan. Shame.

I for one am pleased he's back here, and with the money we've paid for others on the squad over the last six months suddenly he doesn't seen like such a costly player. I don't care about the why's and what's of him being here, I care that he's here and he's a Liverpool player. He always looks to play a forward ball and is a player that makes things happen, I'm rooting for him, big time. This will be his season, I'm sure of it!

That is, if he doesn't join Fiorentina. Like I've said before too many factors pointing towards him leaving.
Was overjoyed when his agent said that he decided to stay and prove himself in England but the rumours about him leaving just won't go away.

FOOTBALL AGENT AQUILANI: DEALING WITH OPEN FIORENTINA

"We need to talk with Fiorentina and Liverpool." The prosecutor Alberto Aquilani, Franco Zavaglia, ADNKRONOS responds positively to the existence of a deal between Liverpool and Fiorentina in Italy for the transfer of the player. "Aquilani is still a Liverpool player. We need to understand what are the projects of the English club and we need to talk to them, then we will." "There are few details at the end of the deal. We have to wait," said Zavaglia, suggesting that the negotiations between the two clubs and the player is not so close to closing, but which are still ongoing discussions between the parties. "I do not know if the two companies there is agreement. We are evaluating the situation with both," said Zavaglia.(23/07/2011) (From RAWK probably a translated Italian article)
