The ideal is a player who can both attack and defend to premium standard, as Cashley's become, but they're rarer than hen's teeth. In the absence of such a player I'll settle for one who's very good at one and not that bad at the other, i.e.Magic. His defensive shortcomings are massively exaggerated IMO.

Agree there and was echoing something similar the other day. Johnson has made errors in defensive areas this year, no doubt there. But he's made numerous amounts of vital interceptions in his time here and plenty of other good defensive work. Our problems lie with our defence becoming a balanced unit - one which is used to a more attacking type of fullback. This will develop over time.
In the present, there needs to be greater communication between the CB's and our CM's to help fill the spaces left open for a counter-attack.
In short, simply blaming Johnson for our defensive lapses this year is very lazy.
