Well is it lads?

According to a few people I know is that now hes here well now Benitez dosent fancy him.

Truth or myth.

as ridiculous as it seems, it appears to be the most likely situation. every last drop of evidence leads to this conclusion.

Fucking hell no.

I honestly find that hard to believe (not doubting you passing on info Mark) simply cos he looked great for Roma & when I've seen him he's looked lively & extremely promising.

I'd say it's obviously bollocks given that you're just a sad internet blagger who doesn't know anyone of note inside the clubs inner sanctum.

The likely reasons are: A. He's injured. B. Benitez is a over cautious gimp.

Ha, it makes you wonder.

Its not that Rafa doesnt like Alberto.. He just loves Lucas too much to let anyone play there. He has said he is good, and will keep him till he plays at least one good game so he can show he was right!

It worries me that you associate evidence with liquid.

I thought Rafa orchestra the whole signing ? Taunting that he is the perfect Alonso's replacement ? And now, not even 90 mins of play time, dismiss Aqua as a player who is worse than Lucas ?

Either our manager is insane or I am reading too much internet..

You'd have to say that the evidence at least appears to support the idea.

I personally don't think it's the case - I just think Rafa is looking for the "perfect" time to introduce him to the premier league as an integral part of the team. Not sure that hasn't just happened with Mascher being suspended for 4 games.

The options without Mascher appear to be;

1) Play Aquilani
2) Drop Gerrard back into midfield and put Yossi/other into the hole.
3) Play Spearing.

I think either of the first two options would be good moves and hope one of them happens.

About the only positive I could take if the third one happens is that its physically impossible for us to get a worse result than last start so no real difference.

haha.

If this is true Rafa really has lost the plot. Who signs a 20 million pound player then decides hes shit before hes barely kicked a ball?

I really fucking hate the comparison to Keane, it doesn't make sense on any level whatsoever; Keane never, even from the day he was signed, had a set role within the side. It was never logical, he has a world-class player in Gerrard occupying his territory.

All Aquilani has to do is to be better than Lucas, which is like asking anyone to be less of a cunt than David Walliams, i.e - not that difficult. I despised all the speculation when Aquilani was injured, but ever since his Father has suggested his son is fully fit, it makes the whole process very odd indeed.

If Rafa really did spend £20M on a player and he isn't better than Lucas, I'm sorry, but regardless of stature he really has to go.

Hahaha. You've changed your tune.....in the space of 4 minutes.

Aqkki was supposed to be introduced in stages, everytime we went comfortably up 2 or 3 nil, he would be brought on to play out the last 20 mins and get a feel for the pace of the Prem.

Obviously the only time this has actually happened was our last home game.

There the mystery is solved!

He hasn't been 'bedded in' because we are playing Shite!

I'm with skully - I've been thinking exactly this for several weeks now. If Aquilani doesn't play during Mascherano's absence, I would seriously expect him to return to Italy in January.

The only good news element of that would be that Rafa would surely have to be sacked. You can't totally screw up two £20m signings in two years without suffering the consequences.

I heard this rumour too at the weekend. Apparently he cant "hack it" and may be on his way in January. If that's the case so should Benitez

What can't he 'hack', exactly?

I am not sure if I swallow it to be honest, mad although Rafa is , he would not make a judgment based on a couple of outings and not even match fit, that would make him look like the biggest tit in football.
I think I am with Asbo on this, Rafa was expecting more opportunities to get him fit.
Still, I said at the time this was the biggest gamble of his managerial career, and if it blew up in his face it was going to be a problem, and as far as I am concerned it already has.

regards

This is a little silly in my opinion. It's not as though no one has ever seen him play before - we know for a fact that he's not without talent. I don't think it's possible to judge Aquilani on the basis of a few training sessions and under 90mins on the pitch - not even for Rafa.

The decision to sell Keane back to Spurs I can almost understand because he didn't really seem to fit in. In the case of Aquilani, things are very different as the team can be structured in a number of ways to include him so as not to displace any of other top class players (all three of them).

Not even Benitez could spunk 20m on a midfielder worse than fucking Lucarse

I refuse to believe it, it would make him the laughing stock of the Premiership. Or rather, even more so.

I dont know what to make of it. The rumours are a little disturbing especially seeing how little Aquilani is playing. But that's the other side of it. WHY isn't he playing ? It's baffling. Is he injured again ? It's not like he's having trouble breaking into a winning team or anything.
