Just found this site, after doing a search on 'going to Kiev' (though I usually write Kyiv 🙂). I am pretty ignorant about this interweb thingy. Read this whole thread, hence the 2:23 time of posting.
Having married Tamara, a Ukrainian, I decided after the Porto game that the middle/end of May would be a good time to visit her mum. We are flying from Luton to Lviv, in West Ukraine, from there you can get good trains to Kyiv. 5 hours daytime, 7/8 hours overnight.
Not got a ticket (yet), still dreaming. Alternative will be a big screen somewhere, with my wife's cousin and a couple of his mates. We have a little apartment booked a few weeks ago.
Kyiv is great, I recommend a river cruise. And such a shame they have renamed Red Army Boulevard - it would have been a good spot for some photos !

Yeah I saw that. I'm not bothered about their customer service and I haven't booked accommodaiton. I just want to know that the plane will be there to take me and ideally bring me home. Alive.

I've flown with Ryanair a few times & I've never had a problem cheap as fuck too. Maybe I've just been lucky.
Jet2 are the best budget airline I've been with though, cos they've got those much slimmer seat thickness design that doesn't recline but has loads more legroom than others. Which is pretty decent for budget prices
I've had massive issues with them. The thing about the bigger budget airlines, when it goes wrong with a couple of flights, it can snowball into a major issue quickly. Where Ryanair are the worst, is in customer service and keeping you informed. I've had a shit time with the likes of Easyjet or Flybe before, but someone will come and speak to the passengers and say, we know it is going to shit, and we're trying to sort it out. Ryanair care not a fuck. They're dreadful.
