I was always a Red but when I was a kid I didn't hate the other lot, even though they were genuine challengers of ours occasionally. That changed though when the bitters started giving it large with the "murderers" bit. Now I despise them even more than the Mancs, and that's saying something.

I'm rather young so I've never experienced nor saw anything of the like, but I've heard of a past where the Red and the Blue of Merseyside weren't bitter, no segregation of fans during derby matches. I for one find playing Everton exciting, more so than other "normal" premiership games. I hold no grudges, don't despise, nor at all hate them. Even when they beat us, it was soon to be pushed to the side, just as if any other team had beaten us. Scum however, are a whole different case.
I say, a mutual respect and symbiotic union in Merseyside would be something to be proud of. But of course, I haven't experienced as much of the development of history as some (most?) of you.
