I'm done talking about Alonso, someone let me know if we re-sign him, until then, I don't wanna know

I see Dmishra has set the nonsense straight. For the sake of clarity:

Metatarsal Fracture 2007 October 28th
Metatarsal Fracture 2007 September 20th
Thigh Muscle Strain 2007 April 20th
Knee Injury 2006 November 24th
Leg 2006 November 3rd

Soft cunt.

True.

For every injury he suffered it was only to one leg, he could have played on the other.

I hated seeing Alonso go, he was a terrific player and his love for us is quite real, I'm sure and should be taken as so. He deserves our love.

At 29 though, I wouldn't want him back, even though he's still a great player. I'd rather find the new Alonso. Time to move on.

I wish people would stop flinging themselves into Xabi's grave. He's gone man! He's gone. Anger, remorse, guilt, something, something...acceptance.

That accounts for his absences, which weren't all long BTW. It doesn't account for him underperforming for the time when he WAS fit to play.

He was never really fit, that was obvious when watching him. Very few players come back from injuries like those and hit top form straight away.

Rooney still hasn't scored a goal in open play for nearly a year now.

The fact still remains that absolutely no-one wanted to spend £15m for him when he was a available for that amount.

That's no-one. That's £3m more than Ryan babel cost.

If Alonso was offered to us now for £15m I'd not only bite bite of the offering hand, but the whole arm & and be happily gnawing through the rib cage.....

But the fact remains - and there were plenty of threads here at the time suggesting we should move him on much sooner than that for a "box-to-box" midfielder like Scott Parker (TM) who would be brilliant with Gerrard in midfield.

Ultimately the problem was not selling Alonso for £30m it was what we replaced him with.

We could have had Charlie Adam for £500k at the time (not realistic but true nonetheless).

And I belief was that you never sold your best players
