Fuck it, just sign the lot of them. Caicedo Macally Enciso Buononotte (for the name alone) Estupinan March Dunk

Read quite a bit from the Brighton fans.

They all love Mac Alister, but it's fair to say that Caicedo is the one they fear the most. They said all his best performances have come in a deeper midfield position, however, Mac Alister is all too often trying to make the number 10 position work for him and he just hasn't got the incisive passing and shooting to really justify it. They seem to think that Enciso will be able to cover for the loss of Mac Alister. Encisco is definitely one to watch if you haven't seen him before - looks like a terrific talent.

The Brighton chairmen will refuse to negotiate. They set a price for their players and if it's not met it's a firm no. I'm hoping Mac Alister has some golden-handshake price or clause that we can activate which is sparking our interest and that fee is no more than £60M. He's a cracking player, but that would be my top end.

I get the feeling that’s exactly who we’re shopping for, anyone with a buyout clause. We’re too tight to compete, we’re hoping to pay the price and sell the project to the player.

None of our midfield targets are going to go below 50m this summer.

Agreed. The only way this will happen is if there's some clause we take advantage of. The whole world knows we're after midfielders this summer and no-one - bar possibly Chelsea with Mount - needs to sell. I don't think Alexis is worth £70m but to be honest I'm less bothered about the price on an individual basis as I am about whether the price affects our ability to land the other players we need.

Having rethought my "PL only" stance, the only DM in this league that's potentially obtainable who will make me forget about thuram or ugarte, is lavia.

McAllister and Lavia seems like a bitter pill to swallow though

Everything is slightly tinged with bitterness because of the way we've been so publicly lusting after Bellingham. The thing I am trying to hold on to is that with Klopp it's always about the team being more than the sum of its parts. If we cover the positions we need to with good enough players there's a very good chance we'll not only be back challenging for the title but also back to being the best team to watch in the league, if not Europe.

One thing I have noticed is that while Caicedo has been whoring himself a bit, like Jude, the Brighton fans love Mac Allister for his personality and character, and we all know how important that is for Klopp. I think if he signs he'll be our next vice captain, regardless of who else we sign.

As for Bloom, he doesn't negotiate but at the same time I don't think he is a price gouger. As long as he has agreed to let a player go, then he'll let the player decide where to go, as long as the asking price is met. He doesn't encourage an auction or drama for the sake of it. I think he has clearly agreed to let Mac Allister go this summer, whether based a gentleman's agreement when he renewed his contract, or a secret clause.

The point is, this is the best player that we are going to get for the expected price point. Caicedo is not going for less than Jude money.

I have nothing against MacAllister - he is exactly the kind of player who brings multiple positive intangibles to their team that can be the difference between winning and losing a trophy. He is a winner, no doubt, and he’s a good footballer.

But is he £70M good? He doesn’t have the speed and athleticism of a top-class midfielder and while he does really well to compensate in other aspects, you don’t pay this kind of money for intangibles - you buy a midfielder that will dominate in every aspect of the game. I can’t help but feel that a team that will pay big money for MacAllister this summer are basically suckers - they could have bought him for peanuts just 12 months ago but failed to see the potential. We should be looking for the next MacAllister, not overpaying for the current one.

I rate MacAllister, however I'm inclined to agree.

I find it really worrying that we seem to be focusing all our attention on PL hype players.

It's not to say these players are all bad, it's just that they represent really poor value for money and given that we seem to spend our lives crying about money, it's a really strange market to do home in on.

With how publicly desperate we are, any sporting director who decides not to thoroughly rinse us should be sacked for negligence.

I guess we don't have time for them to settle, and are willing to pay a premium for that?
At least when it comes to two of the midfielders, maybe the third can involve more chance?

70 million is what Brighton will demand then. That does seem a lot, even though I really like him.

Suppose his price tag would've gone up 10m based on his performance last night alone.

70m is steep but this is the price if you target Prem players....why we're ONLY looking to Prem players I have no fucking idea, doesn't seem smart to me.

He replaces Thiago and scores more goals.

Curtis Jones does the same and is cheaper. Not saying CJ is as good as Mac Allister but wondering as rurik, dmish, keni and others have pointed out - Is the price differential worth it? We need to stretch a limited amount over multiple positions.

JC is injury prone.. Probably not and Tielemans would be better value and probably give you the same output. Personally, I would spend the money getting Ugarte and Thuram.

I get this, but this mentality is how we ended up with a glaring hole in midfield for an entire season and I a virgin for thirty years. There's no perfect signing at a perfect price. I do not want to start next season with us mad flirting with Jude, Mount, Gravenberch, Thuram, Ugarte, post Lavia etc and getting none of them.

We want him.
He want us.
He's at the front door, and Marvin Gaye is playing...
Let's do it

You are definitely going to be a thirty year old virgin.

No pleasing some of you cunts.

70m yes please. Shut up and take my money.

24 years of age and solves one of the CM problems.

Doesn't sound like FSG's style.

More like 70m?!?!? FUCK NO! See how much Fulham would sell Harrison Reed for.
