Is it wrong match after match? His shortcomings have been dissected by all and sundry and he wouldn't be getting that attention if he was tactically alert.
Whilst we can all accept that every player makes mistakes from time to time his lack of effort, jogging around whilst Salah, for example in the last match, ran100m flat out to defend in the box, is very frustrating.
Of course this isn't chronic but it's often enough that people notice.
And it goes without saying that in general we all love him even though tactically this season he's off (for whatever reason) and his defensive contributions have decidedly been lacking and highlighted because he's not been delivering in attack.
It’s wrong that it always come back to Trent. He’s been no worse than Robbo on the other side. What stats I’ve found, he’s been better in terms of tackles and interceptions. Saying it’s Trent time and time again is lazy. It’s a collective issue.
This is now probably veering off into the tactics thread, but we are most likely seeing a shift in philosophy from Klopp. Throughout the whole side we are changing and everyone looks clueless. Added to there has been strange lethargic performances that’s impacted everyone which has seen the two biggest issues of the season. Complete lack of pressure without the ball and slow build up play. So we are easily dispossessed and the ball is released to our right just like teams have done for years. It’s nothing new except we covered it well in previous seasons.
So what we have is a player who doesn’t understand what he should be doing, yet expected to bomb forward and back all game and is physically fucked in the most demanding area of the pitch.
We all are aware of where he lacks and take it on the chin because of what he usually brings going forward. Now that’s not happening for him we just focus on the negative. Yet everyone else seems to get a free ride.
I’m terms of him being lazy and not tracking back, I’d like to see the data on that. Is there somewhere that records player sprints because I’d like to see it. Not just run along with the narrative.
