I think you're right Neets. Having said that, it does make my blood boil too, and I can imagine stoving the head in of the bastards who harmed Baby P (for instance), I just don't think that I would be capable of doing it. I could be wrong though.

Situations like that are easy one's to wish ill upon those involved, but I wouldn't be able to inflict it, nor witness it. And anyone who can do either, what does it say about them? That they gained satisfaction from inflicting cruelty and punishment on someone else?

The cure for poison is not more poison.
 
The only time i punched someone, it was a bully in primary school, i smacked him so hard his head smashed into the window and cracked the glass.

He was pretty much standing next to the window mind, its not like i transported him 50 feet

It could be gaining satisfaction that you are better than them, but that isn't enough for some

I've punched people lots of times- though not in years. But those occasions have been fights. Premeditated violence is probably beyond me though.

I wouldn't describe myself as a violent man, quite the opposite actually. I am a lover, not a fighter. I would hope most who have met me would say the same.
But if anyone hurt any of my family, then revenge would be sweet. Not 'in the heat of the moment' revenge though. It would have to be a planned revenge. Unexpected. That is the way my mind works.

Let's say you decided the appropriate revenge was murder, wouldn't you try to make that as quick and painless as possible (for you) as you could? Rather than a long torturing process? How would that make you any better than them? You'd become the very thing you're fighting against.

I agree. I am not proud to say it. But I could not see how 'heat of the moment' would provide any closure. I have so much respect for Rhys Jones' and Jamie Bulgers' parents. That is the right way to deal with things.
