I am fucking gutted we didn't go for / conclude a deal for this young guy. In our price range (he was in the last year of his contract and had we gone for him Summer 2009 I'm sure we could have got him off Middlesbro). We missed an absolute bargain, young, brilliant & English. I know a few guys on here were touting him too.

He is everything we need in a winger. He prefers to play on the left but, as we've seen for England over the last week, he is superb on the right too. Our winger problem would have been solved in an instant. A goal scoring, full back annihilating, winger. Citeh have got themselves one hell of a player for just 7M.

He's certainly a lot faster than I took him for. And has filled out a lot. But he won't score many more than 3 goals this season.

I saw him a couple times for the England U-21 team and he didn't impress me at all, so I never really understood the hype he got from some. But yeah, at 7M he's proven to be a steal for City and in hindsight probably a good buy for us. Shame indeed.

Still think he looks like a cunt though.

I'm sorry, you're a fountain of positivity who tends to champion lots of different players, despite the fact that they are rough around the edges. You also tend to take a balanced approach to judging their quality, seeing both the good and the bad, rather than just separating everyone into either ace or cunt/shit. My mistake.

But you haven't been spotting any good young players on these boards for a long time.
