yea Latin, that turned out to be useful

It is, very. Not only is it at least partly the basis for most of the European languages you'd ever be likely to need to learn, puzzling it through is darn good intellectual exercise. At school I was always told that maths would provide that, but I could only ever learn maths by sheer memory work. Neither then nor since has it ever been of any use to me whatsoever.

Fair point but that reasoning was lost on 12 year old me who was finding it difficult enough to cope with our super camp and very eccentric Latin teacher. I didn't learn a lot in that class.

Yeah but you use maths more than Latin I would say. Maths is in my head though, I can't help not understand it

I need to use maths daily, but it's not often I turn around and say mutato nomine, de te fabula narratur

I had to do Latin for 4 years at school. Hated it. So glad I was forced to do it now though.
